Cooling interior ?

I have a sun reflector for the front window of my third gen, but it still gets hotter than blue blazes! I was wondering is there a similar type made for the hatch or am I just barking at the moon?

Re: Cooling interior ?

And its not just the glass letting in light that makes things hot. The color of the car has a huge impact on how it retains heat. The darker the car, the worse it is.

Dark tinting on the rear glass helps.

Re: Cooling interior ?

Thanks, I do crack the windows a lot! I have a system to how you I put them haha. My car is the Dark Red Metallic so i'm screwed on the color. I am thinking about just "macgyvering" something together.

Re: Cooling interior ?

I once saw a little battery powered fan that can be hung on the window that helps move air in the car when you have it parked. Of course the windows need to be cracked a little. and I remember that it took like 2 aa batteries, and could last almost 2 weeks per battery change. It was supposed to lower inside temps by 30% or more. But it has been years and I dont even remember who made it. But I am sure it can be found or home made. I know down here in Texas we need them for sure.

No one has mentioned louvers yet? They sure work

Of course, they're ridiculously expensive and you have to like the style But they work really well

Re: Cooling interior ?

I wouldn't go too dark on the window tint. I can't speak from experience, but I've heard that if you go too dark, it can actually start holding the heat. Not a whole lot different then dark paint I guess. Even though it doesn't allow the light into the car, it can make the glass super hot I think.

And I'm kinda in the same boat, trying to keep the interior as cool and efficient as possible. One thing I'm gonna do is pull down my headliner, and see about putting down some sort of insulating material. A guy I work with told me to check out home depot cause they carry a few types of materials that might install to the headliner fairly easily.

Re: Cooling interior ?

tint doesnt have to be dark to prevent heat cause by the big ball of gases in the sky...ive seen tint that was only 50% but was rated up there with 20%..its a little expensive though..its made by johnson or llumar..cant remember which..but its real thick...and no it wont be like a magnifying glass..thats what you got now

Re: Cooling interior ?

Tint is a great option. My IROC never gets hot. The darker the better.

Re: Cooling interior ?
