Removing Complete Center Tray
Removing Complete Center Tray
My e-brake handle only goes up about 3-4inchs from resting position and makes it pretty much impossible to get the whole center piece out without breaking it, any suggestions??
Re: Removing Complete Center Tray
You mean under and outside the car I am guessing, lol. Want to avoid getting under the car as much as possible, because I park my car on the street... >_> People fly through here without care, really need speed bumps around here!

Ahh... but yes, that's what I meant. A friend of mine was almost killed that way but he had gone in the house to get a tool while I waited outside.
Anyways, you could try accessing the bolts that attach the handle to the floor. They're probably hard to get to though. Then you could just tip the handle up.

Mine is hard as well - manhandle that puppy far enough to clear!
I use two hands to get it to about a 70 degree angle, then I can clear the handle with a little finesse!

Re: Removing Complete Center Tray
You have to take the hand grip off the e-brake lever. After you do that, you can lift the center console up, slide it forward & just barely get it to clear. Its not a lot of room, but it'll come off.
Re: Removing Complete Center Tray
I already removed the e-brake grip, the problem I have is there is no room to slide it forward, as it hits the dash, unless there is something else I need to remove before hand. I kind of don't wanna man handle the ebrake lol, don't want to break it! no pun intended lol

Mine goes up to about a 70º angle. I'm taking mine off soon and I know there wouldn't be enough room if it only went up 3"-4".
Re: Removing Complete Center Tray
Yeah it normally wouldn't be an issue but I need to remove it to re-wire everything as I have a slow driver side window (will regrease too) that works intermittantly and is cross-shorted between my trunk release. So my trunk release will often open/close/open/close/open/close by itself... >:O

Re: Removing Complete Center Tray
are you sure the slow drivers side window has anything to do with it and not just a wore out window motor? If you break the top center console plastic $25 and shipping, I have 3 sitting upstairs.

Re: Removing Complete Center Tray
When I took mine out I first took out the shift plate, disconnecting the light switches, and took out the bolts holding the Ebrake to the floor. Then with the Ebrake handle removed it easily will tilt back far enough to remove without stressing out the console. A little extra time, but no breakage involved. Have fun!
