Turn Signal Lever problem

My car has a problem with the turn signal lever sometimes. What it will do is when I use my right turn signal, it will cancel out sometimes right after I turn it on, before I even make the turn. It only does this for the right turn signal, but not the left. What needs to be done to fix this?

Re: Turn Signal Lever problem

There is a plastic piece inside the steering column called a "cancling cam" - sounds like it's got a busted tooth or something on it. I don't know 100%, but I think you have to remove the steering wheel to get to it and fix/replace it. It might just need realigned or something, or it might be broke and need replaced.

Might check local JY's for a 3rd gen with steering column, then grab a "free rental" steering wheel puller from advance/autozone/whatever and go "practice" getting one out on the JY car, then you'll get one to replace, and you'll see how it's done on someone elses car

Re: Turn Signal Lever problem

you just have to reposition the canceling cam itself to a position closer to the left of your wheel and reassemble.
