Re: frustrating trunk pull down rebuild

No the two styles of pull-down are not interchangeable (unless you cut and swap the mounting from a donor car). It could be that the unit has cycled down midway. If that is the case you'll need to cycle it down the remainder of the down cycle. That is donw by pressing on the striker-sensing swith which is just in front of the latch. There are three wires cominf from it. You'll need to press on a small black paddle which is the actual switch lever. Press and hold it down, the unit should cycle down. Once it reached the bottom of th down cycle you'll hear a CLICK which is the reversing switch being tripped. Release the switch and it should cycle all the way up. For anything else check the TECH article I wrote on this site. You'll refer to pages 3-4 for your 88-91 style pull-down unit.

Put it on your "Christmas Wish List" when you write to Santa.

Be aware that using a hammer on it will cut way back on the refund you'll get for returning the used core.

I figure it is worth the investment considering the professionalism involved
and the lack of amateur headache.... thanks Lon
you have a great deal on the core ...extremely low mileage and unhammered XD
