Re: Other side of this bolt?

it's a stud in the heater box, not a bolt. If the nut is seized you have a problem

Do I have to remove the dash to get to it? Or is it in the area as if I was changing the heater core?

I always have trouble with that bolt whenever I try to remove a non a/c heater box from the junkyard cars.If that one doesnt come out I usually just give up

there is no other side, its just a thread stud welded to the firewall.

you can try a nut splitter, maybe that will work.

Are you sure all models/years are welded to the the firewall because I seen a couple the doesnt look welded?

The nut on mine is seized and the whole stud spins.

I can take a picture of the replacement stud i plan on using.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Re: Other side of this bolt?

Here is the pis of the stud/bolt. It looks like it screws in plastic. I pulled this/and the heat/ac box out of a Camaro that already had the dash missing.

Re: Other side of this bolt?

The replacement one you have shows the reverse torx end that makes it easy to remove a stuck nut. Try using a screw/bolt extractor on the stud end and a 10mm wrench on the nut. Soak it in PB Blaster for a day and keep spraying it. Should come off then.

Re: Other side of this bolt?

may be able to use some needle nose vice grips to hold onto the of the stud while you use a wrench on the nut. may not be pretty afterwards, but it may be just enough leverage to unstick the nut

Re: Other side of this bolt?

Hello jprix!!

Try using a dremel tool, with a cut off wheel, (and a little patience) and split the nut/captured washer!!

You said your going to replace it with another, so it doesn't have to look pretty, as long as you get it off!!!
