Dash Protection
I have a rare find so I am told. My dash is in excellent shape!!! Now I am not saying this to brag. I would just like to know from others what they have found to be the best way to preserve this condition. I have been told before not to use stuff on it, to clean it, and vice versa. I do park in a garage and keep it out of direct sunlight as best as I can in parking lots. Thanks

Re: Dash Protection
The Sun is not your friend. Lots of people get dash mats ( carpet or similar material) that are made to fit. If you like the looks of the dash as it is it may not be the option you wanted, but it works. Differing opinions on armor-all or similar Maguires products

Re: Dash Protection
if you dont want the Greasy look/feel i really like the turtle wax Ice Interior care, but i use Black magic Uv protector more often even though its very greasy and shiny it works well
and as said before the dash mats work like a charm, im thinking about getting one and just putting it in when my car is going to sit in the sun for more than an hour

Right on... I dont mind the look of the products as long as it is not causing me more harm then good. I suppose those blinds people put in the windshield when they park is pry the best option. Since I do not want a silly mat on my dash lol I just like to carry minimal things in my bird when I go cruisin.... I really do enjoy the natural look of the dash!
Does anyone else like black majic uv protectent? And how long have you used it?

Re: Dash Protection
I had this discussion with a car company dashboard engineer - the best is to keep it in the garage (out of the sun), clean with light soap. Sounds like you're doing that.

Re: Dash Protection
My car also came with a nice dash but this car is my "daily driver" so I went with a dash pad.Since I use a dash pad cover and since it did not do a very good job of covering the outside edge of the dash I used a nice piece of black felt on the corners .Just folded it nicely and tucked in and under the cover. Held on top with Velcro and loosen the screws on the underside and tucked it in.I know you said "no"to a cover but thought Id post a photo for anyone that may be leaning in that direction. Its "obvious" my car is not set up for show.

Re: Dash Protection
That does not look bad at all! Thanks for the pic. I still would hate to cover up such a beautiful part of my interior lol I think I will stick with the garage and a sun shade for the parking lots. At least it will make it that much harder to see inside the car for the thieves.
armour all was the one product I have been given the most warning about.

Re: Dash Protection
Thanks for the info. I'm obviously a newbie here, and not a 'car chick' at all, but trying. Have owned my '87 Camaro since '91, has been our secondary vehicle for 7 years until our '05 Jeep had two major accelerator-sticking problems in one day (which Jeep claims tripped no error codes and they have never heard of). Now the car I couldn't part with has become my full-time vehicle (70 miles a day) and I would just like to get it looking a little better. 5000 kms on rebuild engine, 320,000kms on original transmission. I've had her almost 20 long years and I love her just the same...
