to those who added sound deadener.....

Did you install carpet right over that, or did you get new jute pad, or did you use something else?
I am getting ready to do mine, but my jute pad is thrashed and nasty. I am reusing my carpet.

Re: to those who added sound deadener.....

Normally the jute pad is used for insulation from heat and added a slight sound deadening effect. Most of the deadening comes from the air barrier it creates holding the mass backed carpeting off the floor slightly. I would get a new jute set as that is one of the most common causes of funny smells. Adding sound deadener will multiply the paddings effectiveness.

What about the thickness of the jute pad. If you don't put in new will it make the trim fit funny. Also where can one get new jute pad. Can it be bought at a store

Used SmittyMats.com and no jute, it holds moisture like a sponge.
Stock carpet n SM do not hold water.

Jute is thicker then that, or maybe the replacement you found is just that thick, and or maybe it expands with water but no problem with fitment.
And all the jute ive pulled out of any Gm was more like a 1/2 thick and heavy but maybe it had expanded by then, dunno.

Ya know thats also why I went with SM, thin and effective, popular on the Vette board for being light, and the one thing I didn't like about dynomat n others cept for their higher prices, is they want you to over lap their 10x10 squares of foil backed roofin tar by a half in or more. Which would make the floor very lumpy feeling without putting a thick pade over that. And I didn't want all that extra weight.

Ya. I meant 7/16. But if there are no pro lems with fittamnet, then I will look into it more. Would 112 sq ft be enough

Yea, but I can say you want more then you need.
You will find all sort of places to use it. So what every you can afford.
I wouldn't go broke just to get allot.

I did several small orders, as I could afford it.

I can say the first time around I cheaped out and dind't get tape, I used some chrome ducttape, and the first place I used it was on the headlinner. 1 yr later the SM was still in place but the ducttape was falling down.
