Under dash hush panels.....?
I just bought a 1989 IROC-Z with 9,000 Original miles. She is immaculate!
I crawled on the floor and noticed I'm missing the driver and passenger side Under Dash Hush Panels. I called up the previous owner to see if he had them or if he took them off and he said no. He had no idea...
My question is:
In 1989 did all Camaro's come with the hush panels from the factory?
Or did my car not come with the hush panels from the factory??
Weird question about interior, but I got to know.
Thanks,
Tim

All the cars had them - check ebay for cheap replacements, or else www.thirdgenranch.com

The passenger side I know must at least have one. The driver side isn't important because it just covers up the wires and fuse panel. The passenger side (if i'm right) is needed for the air flow for the heater. I'm not sure about whether or not it came with them though.

Not all cars were equipped with them (There seems to be no rhyme or reason behind why some cars were equipped and some weren't). With 9 K on your car, my guess is that your ride left the factory without them. Check the following link for a ton of info on the subject:

Re: Under dash hush panels.....?
My 84 is completely stock and unaltered. I only have a right side hush panel.
NO left side one !
From the posts here some have 2 some have one while others have NONE!

If your car has the underdash lights mounted to the kick panels by little round brackets then more than likely it didnt come with hush panels.

Re: Under dash hush panels.....?
Weird - I've never seen one that didn't have them, unless the owner stated he/she had it off or broke it or lost it.
Re: Under dash hush panels.....?
The courtesy lights were part of a convenience package or light package, I don't remember. If the car has the light package and doesn't have hush panels from the factory, the lights will be mounted into a bracket. If they are just hanging by a wire, then the panels were removed. If there are no lights and no panels, then it's anybody's guess. If your ALDL still has a cover on it, then there never were and hush panels as the hush panels provided a different type of cover.

Re: Under dash hush panels.....?
My 84 has the courtesy light on the left side mounted in a bracket attached to the bottom of the dash (NO left side hush panel)
The right side has a hush panel with a mount hole in the middle center of it and a light is mounted in that hole.

Re: Under dash hush panels.....?
I have no hush panels (I have the fuse cover), nor any courtesy lights afaik. I do have the rear view mirror with the dual map lights, though.
Car is damn dark to get in and out of at night with just the pathetic dome light.
