Dash Pad.. and other items.

Today, I found a guy who owns EIGHTY-SIX third gen Camaros...

He has a whole yard FULL of parts.. so I asked him how much for a dash pad -- $350 and he only had one he was willing to sell atm. NO WAY I could afford that right now... so I figured I'd mention here, if anyone wants it, I can go look at it(pics)/ find more details/ haggle and ship it off. Also, if anyone is in such a way that you cannot find parts, let me know and I'll give him call; see if he has it.

Side note: out of all 86 of his Camaro's, he said ONE has good dash pad! Crazy!

He is probably 75 years old, he doesn't use the internet, lol, but I am willing to be a go between and take pics of things people are looking for and get prices etc.

Did he say how he ended up with that many thirdgens? There has to be an interesting story behind that...

Re: Dash Pad.. and other items.

Seriously, I would take some photos- overall look of the place, then specific samples of engines, interiors etc- and then post them here to see what kind of response you get. Then, partner with the guy...

Re: Dash Pad.. and other items.

So the guy was pretty much an *******. He wouldn't even let me look at any of the cars. He said he had the door someone asked for -- $500, but I couldn't look at it unless I had the money in my hand... he said, "I'm not in the business of giving tours."
..really though?!
WTF?
This was after I told him about thirdgen.org.
I hate that because I am a woman no one takes me seriously when it comes to cars. Like the other day, some d-bag decides to let me know that my timing was off.... when actually it's not. I hate being treated like I'm dumb. </endrant>

side note -- a friend of mine says he knows a guy with about 50 third gen part cars, so I'm gonna check that out. If anyone really wants me to pursue the other guy.. I will, or if you are near Upstate South Carolina, I can give you the number to call.

Isn't 350.00 too much for a dash pad?

Re: Dash Pad.. and other items.

good pads are going for $250 and up on ebay. New pads sell for $350-$400. This is NOT including shipping. Shipping is $60-100 at least. And they don't always get there in one piece

I'm not a woman and I've had stuff like a guy camping out for 3 days at a swap meet selling his z28, having me go to the bank to get 5,000 in cash to buy it, then when i get back telling me i cant buy it because i "took too long" (20 minutes in los angeles traffic) and loading it back into his truck with me standing there holding 50 $100 bills.. lol

dealing with "muscle car guys" kind of makes you miss the stalkers/asskissers at modern car dealerships.. almost

Re: Dash Pad.. and other items.

The 91 has about four or five top screws close to the glass, and you can see the many screws under the pad, about seven. Just took one off a 91..mint in AZ!

There are upolstery shops that can repair dash pads for less than 100.00. It's a viable alternative.

Yeah i know, but i just wouldnt want to go through all the hassle.Specially if you have a huge project going on all the time with a thirdgen like me Haha.I would love to have that done to a crappy one,but i think id just rather find a nice looking one.

Well, I certainly thought it was over priced... that's why I didn't buy it! LOL. But I thought hey.. someone else might not think so, so I mentioned it here.
