4th gen dash and more

Finally finishing up this dash and Hvac box swap from a 2001 camaro into my 1991 rs. I can see why most people just trim the stock vents to fit the 4th gen dash as this was a royal pain in the butt. Took about a week and a half working on it when I had the time after work, glad I did it now that its done but not sure I would do it again. Let me know what you think.

All 4th gen wiring from headlights to taillights, hope to get started on that next and get the motor and tranny installed.

Re: 4th gen dash and more

Are the firewalls the same distance from the dash on both cars so you just have to cut the hole and install the mounting ring? Also is there more room next to the engine with this heater box? I have been thinking about trying that. It looks like it would help with my 3.4 DOHC swap.
Thanks Mike

Re: 4th gen dash and more

The box fit between the firewall and the 4th gen dash perfect and yes as far as the firewall part all i did was put the 4th gen mounting ring as far to the passenger side and down as it would go. The hard part was rebuilding the cowl area where the water drains from the wiper area out the passenger fender. I closed off the fresh air intake area (figered I could use the power windows for that haha) and put a hole in the lower cowl firewall area for the water to drain. First time I've been this far into a car before someone with a little better fab skills could probably keep it closer to factory.

Re: 4th gen dash and more

Cant wait to start on mine. My 3rd gen doesn't have the stock blower or hvac so thats why I leaned into doing this. Having a complete donor car has lots of advantages.
