Seat belt recall

Hi, I found out that my car has the safety seat belt recall. I called pontiac and they told me the vin i gave them doesn't exist. Then i sent them a pic of the car and they said the car exists but there's no open recall. My dad was the original owner and found the recall card that they sent him for the seat belt recall. I faxed it over(mind you this has my VIN on the car now which is on the card as well) They denied me a service waiver and said the car had no recall even after sending them the card. I showed a GM dealer and they tried to fight with pontiac but to no avail. What can i do to get this serviced? Thank you for your time.

Re: Seat belt recall

That's a lie. Pontiac told me that a recall is for the life of the vehicle when i asked if there was an expiration. I'm getting fed up and I'm considering a lawsuit.

Re: Seat belt recall

The parts are quite available. Takes 10 minutes to do a pair, front and back (front only for the cars with the rear shoulder belts). Why waste time fighting with the idiots at GM when you can do it yourself in a half hour?

Re: Seat belt recall

Your gonna waste your time calling GM about that recall as I can tell ya
from trying myself. Your best off tracking down the buckle repair kit either
at a dealer or on e-bay and doing the fix yourself or buying a used set off
e-bay, a vendor, thirdgenranch or the parts for sale page here.

There is also a DIY repair thread here....................

Re: Seat belt recall

I could easily do that. But, then if something goes wrong and it breaks they will blame me for tampering with it. Plus i have the original recall card. I'll take a pic and send it to you later today. But, just in case what's the part # for the belt kit?

Re: Seat belt recall

Contact an attorney, and have him call threatening a safety recall lawsuit. That's a safety issue and they should be for the life of the vehicle.

Re: Seat belt recall

I have the original recall letter. My cars previous owner never had it done. The parts are like 2 bucks. I just need time to take it in and have it done. My local pontiac dealer says they will do it free, no problem. I had to order and wait for the parts. they could of been free but for around 2$ who cares?
I will try to scan the letter and get ya the part number.

Those are the pics. I sent them this card and they still refused. You're lucky they will do it for free. No one will accommodate me. I might have to get that lawyer to scare them. I'm going to call them myself as well.

Yep, safety recalls are for the life of the car. There are no time limits on those. As for contacting a lawyer, I'd hold off on that. I would first contact the NHTSA and see what they say. They may be able to help you.

Re: Seat belt recall

I contacted them, they told me that recall is for 10 years and that i was (for lack of better words) **** out of luck now. I'm not letting Pontiac get away with it;even for 2 bucks.
