dashboard?

I recently removed the dashboard out of my 89 camaro rs because it was cracked with hopes of buying a new one, but I cant find them anywhere. Is there somewhere I can buy it new offline, and who would havethe best prices?

Re: dashboard?

I'd hit the bone yards, TGO's classifieds and CL for an OE in good shape (I've purchased two, one for $25 and the other for $50). Or you can go the following route:

I used to do as much as 150. Make the trip worthwhile and hunt for any and everything that will improve you car or that you can sell.

New repro.

Re: dashboard?

replacement dash boards aren't too common since they're not what you'd consider a "wearing" item. not too many vendors out there who want to make anything like that, so $300 doesn't sound that bad for something like that. We do offer the caps to go over what you have now as a less expensive alternative and they don't require any removal of the old part. If you're lucky, you may be able to find one in a junkyard used, but I know all the 3rd gens around here have been pretty well picked through already

Re: dashboard?

$300 + is alot for the dash pad, unfortunately, if you can't find a good used one, it's the only option out there that looks good and fits right. I bought one, but the price is steep....

Re: dashboard?

I've always wondered why the Camaro dash pads sell for substantially more than the Firebird ones (especially considering the Firebird is by far the more superior of the two cars Supply and demand?

By the way Camarosource, is your photo enhanced or touched up? I have never seen a shine on a car like that before!

Re: dashboard?

All depending on the condition of the pad, I've seen them go for even $600 on ebay. Usually the first sign is where the TINY grid parts where the radio speakers are that go. It does not take much for those to crack; aftermarket reflective sunshades are a MUST because the sun just wrecks the dashes.

Re: dashboard?

I agree about the sunshade. People probably think I'm crazy, but I put a car cover on my car when I drive it to work since the summer Florida sun will destroy almost everything quickly. I was lucky to buy a dash pad cover from Birds and Bowties before the owner had to close up his business. He put a beechwood embrodered Firebird in the middle. It fits perfectly on the dash even without velcro. Never once slipped off the dash. It is a shame he had to close up, I heard due to health problems. I would have ordered a matching set of slip seat covers from him.

Re: dashboard?

I got lucky and found a nice dashpad for 20 bucks just last month, only thing wrong is small crack in corner on driver side barely noticable. For now it's staying in my closet along with my weatherstripping set for car

Re: dashboard?

Thank you, I saw one on eBay ( in excellent condition) and it implied it would fit. I brought the issue up with the seller and he looked into it also and later replied that it is different.
Thanks for the help, I almost made an expensive mistake.
