Re: Mirror with map lights question
I would imagine that it would be connected to the dome light with some sort of plug,or just ruffed in with it.

If you have the factory harness its plug and play man. I put one on my 89 and it was super easy to do. only mod you have to do is maybe change the connector where it ties into the factory harness. If you dont have the harness it wont be as easy as you would need to make all the connectors for the dome light and then the map lights. I might have a mirrior and harness if you need one

Re: Mirror with map lights question
I took a pic of the plug last night from my car as I was doing some dash wiring. Here is the connector you are looking for. You might have to cut the S10 or camaro one off the mirrior side of the harness and reattach the one in your car now. Thats what I had to do as the interior harness piece is different but its easy to wir together and will take a minute to do.
Its the one my finger is pointing to with the white and orange wire from it.

Hmm i see, the S10 was a brown wire connecting to the mirror so im guessing i will just try to find a wiring harness similar to that? In the local pick n pull yard there is one thirdgen with the overhead console and map lights so i will just grab the wiring harness from there also im going to grab its iroc hood

Re: Mirror with map lights question
Haha okay I will forsure, I might not be able to get it for a bit since I have to do a few things to work on my car, its been running pretty rough lately, I took it out yesterday and I did something pretty stupid, I went 80km down my street and the limit is 50km, the funny part is that i made it from 0 - 80 in 5 seconds which is pretty good for a 2.8l and a guy that really doesn't know how to drive standard, I drove damn good didn't stall once, or burn the clutch!

Re: Mirror with map lights question
being my 86 S-10 is as base as they come (manual EVERYTHING) it didnt have any sort of int light so i snatched the small amount of harness, drilled a hole above the mirror in the frame around the front glass for ground and found a constant hot in the fuse block. works like a champ.
i plan on doing this in my sons 83 T/A as its a nice convienience. my 89 came factory. get a harness from a car that dosent have the extra lights in the dome.
