4thGen Console Lid,Trac.Control plate, and Shifter boot fix help
Bought a console off a guy on here that needs work. I think the lid just needs hinges but i havent really looked at it much. The shifter boot needs to be replaced, and the plate is missing from where the Traction control button was. Also, the top console just slides right off. Help would be greatly appreciated. Im putting my power window switch where the Trac plate goes

it also looks like you're missing the trim piece around the shifter boot. should be able to grab it off ebay though

That metal thing inside the shift boot IS a replacement shift boot ring from an aftermarket source (supposed to be better than the stock plastic ring that breaks every time you look at it). Looks like it's damaged and needs to be bent back into shape.
OP, not sure on the armrest (as I don't have one), but you need to salvage a couple long screws from your old console to hold the shift plate in. They go into the 2 holes that are in the compartment under the armrest. As for the TCS/2nd gear start plate, you don't need it. You can get a handy little compartment off of eBay or somewhere that fits into there (it's a factory piece and that's what it's designed for), or you can get the switch plate.

It happens
. Good news is that the ring is readily available, even though it's $35 (the last time I looked anyways), and GM seems to possibly be running out...

I definitely would NOT get the plastic shift boot ring. GM made a crappy design decision on that one. Even being careful, the plastic ring breaks easily. Since you already have the metal one, I'd take the boot off of it (it just slides off through the slits in the bottom) and try to get it bent back into shape. Failing that, I'd get a new one.

In the pic, you can see the compartment that fits in there, that I described above. I think I got mine for $15. There was another one recently, but I'm looking for an armrest, so I didn't get it (as I already have one).
