Speedometer Help

Ok so I bought my son his first car, an 87 Camaro. And a week after we bought the car the speedometer stopped working. So we started taking the dash apart to get to the speedometer. And as soon as we got the plastic piece off that is covering the gauges (sorry if these are not the correct terms, I am a single mom trying to help my child who knows nothing about cars nor do I) the needle fell off So I decided this is beyond our realm of a fix. So I took it to a shop of a friend of a friend and they said it is broken and could not be fixed (the speedometer needle) and that I needed a new one. So here is my question I need to buy a new speedometer and I am not quite sure what it is I am looking for and/or what actual part to buy. He searched a few wrecking yards but none of them had one so I told him I would look online. Oh did I mention there is a little bit of a language problem which is why I am not asking him So any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated as of right now I have a 16 year old driving a Camaro around with no speedometer and I really can't afford a speeding tick which I know is soon to come if I don't get this fixed!!!

Any speedometer from an 85 to 89 Camaro will work.
