Re: 98-04 blazer overhead console
I did this using a 2nd Gen Console into a 1st Gen S10 Blazer. It is a project simple to do. Do a search on any of the S Truck Forums. There is a wealth of knowledge on this...
First you will need the overhead console. The console was in many vehicles including, Blazer, Jummy, Astro Van, Tahoe, Suburban, and some others. There are 2 different displays. One have Temp/Compass. The other also displays Engine Info. You will want one that only displays temp/compass as you will need the ECM from the donor vehicle for the engine info.
You will need the console and temp sensor from the same vehicle. the temp sensor is mounted to the front of the vehicle under the hood by the radiator. The compass is internal near the front of the overhead.
There is 2 mounts you will need to fab. The easiest was to do this is with a couple wood blocks and some epoxy. You will defiantly will need to do this with the front. The rear may be able to use the existing mount. This is by far the most difficult part. Then there is 6 wires. Ground, Constant Power, Overhead Power (these 3 should already be going to your existing overhead light), Dimmer, and Temp (from the temp sensor). The Temp sensor will also have a ground.

From top to bottom -
Wire harness for Overhead display
Compass
Temp Sensor

Note the main harness, I only have 4 wires exposed: Ground, Temp, Dimmer and Constant Power.
And the Temp sensor has 2 wires exposed Ground and Temp.
Underside of the front of the console

Note the front mounting point is a single screw in the front middle.
Underside of the Rear of the Console

Note the wires 3 wires: Ground, Constant Power and Overhead Power. I ran these thru the console and merged them with the wires for the display making a single 5 wire bundle.
Also Note the dual Mounting Points.

Re: 98-04 blazer overhead console
I decided to sell my extra console (it is the same as pictured above). Note it has the display that also shows engine info.

That looks great in the 2nd gen car, but I don't think there is enough width on a third gen with t tops to fit it in the center.

Re: 98-04 blazer overhead console
So its a little wider than allow not by to much ill get pictures in the afternoon tomorrow but I had to use a lonng screw up front and drill two new holes in the back due to the blazer screw holes being wider than the ttop bar will allow will need to mold it into the headliner and carpet it but dont have headliner to work with right now ill start on the wiring tomorrow also.

Re: 98-04 blazer overhead console
It looks like it is slightly wider than the t-bar roof. Better hope your t-tops dont leak!!
Other than that, it does look good!!

Now that I've seen it in a 3rd gen... I'm out. Thanks for being the guinea pig.

Interesting. Looks great in that 2nd gen. It's a nice console and a great idea. Something like this would more than likely work great in my hardtop. The lighting alone would make it worth while.

Re: 98-04 blazer overhead console
Ive come close to doing this in my other car that was ttop..but that car is gone.I will be doing this in my new hardtop car though which should be a much better fitment vs the ttop. They are a long overhead but that doesnt bother me as it has a wide light spread.I miss my spot lamps at night for quick things..instead of turning on all the interior lights from the dome switch lol.
I suppose you could easily heat the sides of it in to fit ttops better,or as i had planed was to cut small pieces of abs plastic and fit it in the gaps and seal it from the elements. Not a big issue..just gotta be creative.
