I would be surprised if it was true for 4th gens , but definitely not true for third gens. Our electric motors are pretty big. However the difference is not as much as you might think since the regulator gear and arms are really heavy by themselves. I can't remember what the difference was when I measured, but it wasn't enough to make me want to switch to manual regulators so I chucked them.

Well I guess it depends what you compare it to, all third gen motors are the same size. The motors on my VWs are much smaller, but they have much smaller windows and a wire and plastic regulator (not the most durable setup). My older jeeps have giant motors that drive a cable. They weigh a ton. Either way, My scale isn't accurate to small increments, so I weighed the complete regulators in pairs and the difference was less than a pound.

If you're looking to save weight, don't bother with the power windows. Both manual regulators together might weigh about as much as one power regulator.
And then you have the additional wiring...

Both regulators together? I have to disagree. There's isnt that much difference. They both are basically the same regulator with the huge metal struts and big gear , the only difference is the motor on power and crank stud on the manual, it leaves very little difference in weight. The wiring can't weigh all that much either. Power windows are well worth the minimal weight.

The regulators are NOT basically the same. The power regulators have the balance spring. The manual regulators have more of a backframe for the manual gear.
Again, if you're interested in weight savings, keep the manual regulators. If you want convenience, put the power regulators and harness in. But it will cost a couple pounds in weight.
