How hard is it to replace the steering column housing cover & blinker switch?

My 89 was broken into and I never fixed the parts that were damaged. My steering column cover is slit open (where they tried to get to my ignition or something) and they broke the plastic wiper/blinker lever. I can still get it to work but I have to hold it funny to make the car squirt washer fluid as it is snapped around the shaft.

Is there anyway this can be fixed/replaced? Apparently I need a new cover and a blinker lever. Aftermarket levers are on ebay as well as hawks third gen but the steering column cover seems to be a wash. I have a spare cover but it doesn't seem to match the one in my car and its chewed up from removal.

Car has cruise & tilt if that makes anything easier.

*sorry for the dust, the car has been sitting for 2 years and crap tends to cling to armor-all*

89, w/VATS, W/Tilt, NON SRS (airbag).

Mine is not listed, only 1990+ models

http://www.steeringcolumnservices.co...ats-no-srs.php

This looks to be the right one, but it says 1990-1995 Camaro & Firebird.
(However, In the link it shows 1988-1995).

Re: How hard is it to replace the steering column housing cover & blinker switch?

Just bought an OEM replacement lever tonight and found one in storage from a 91 w/the yellow lettering. It probably would have saved me 70 bucks and worked just the same.

As for the columns I have, I have a few and they lack the tilt feature so the back of the plastic is different and not like my IROC.

You could send a e-mail to Denny at www.thirdgenranch.com
He may have that piece laying around ...used but cheap!

BTW: My 90 Buick winter rats column plastic is broken in the same
place but for $72 bucks and the hassle of taking the column apart
its gonna stay that way!
