Overhead console button sticking

I just put an overhead console in my car. Installation went good, but the map light button is sticking. Does anybody know how I can fix this? I'll post pix of the console soon.

Re: Overhead console button sticking

I'm guessing that your car did not have one from the factory.
I installed one in my car and that button sticks if you don't have the headliner cut back far enough to clear the back of the button.
I'm not sure why that would cause this but it does.

It's deff not the headliner. It sticks when it's not even installed. I read that in the installation article. I wish it was that though lol. Could I spray wd40 on electronics?

Re: Overhead console button sticking

Mine did that too when I reinstalled it. It's just too tight in that respective corner. Grab the edge of it with one hand and gently pull it down a tiny bit. With the other finger, click the button. If it works correctly now, it was misaligned slightly/pressed too close against the fabric. Loosen the screw a bit, realign and try again. As with most things in the interior, go slow and especially; be gentle!
