1986 A/T Shifter **** replacement

Hey Guys,
So i have a 1986 camaro with an A/T and a 350 4-bolt swap in it.
I currently have a black ball push button shifter that has a large crack in it and was wanting to replace it.
I wanted to see if i could use one of the New ZL1 camaro Auto shifters?
If not i would like to get another ball shifter that was a little more custom design on it to really accent the interior.
So first how do i take the old one off and second what can i replace it with?

The ball shifter is held on by a snap ring. You have to remove the push button and then you will see the snap ring. Its attached to the top of the shift lever

so the ball is literally just a ball? and how do you get the button off to access the snap ring?

I usually just put a thin flat blade screwdriver in there and pry it up
