Window channels

Does anyone know who sells the window channels?

I took my passenger door panels off today to replace a bad window motor. When I pulled the window up by hand to give myself better access to the motor the fuzzy covered rubber that lines the inside of the front channel pretty much just crumbled to pieces.

Re: Window channels

He's talking about the rubber "rail" that is held on the bottom of the window triangle inside the door. I don't recall ever seeing one of those new.
Junkyard should be full of those in the US ? Or ask on the classified section here.

Re: Window channels

I think you are right. Can't find them new anywhere. I did find a couple in a pic-a-part this morning that are waaay more usable than my originals. Mine is a 91 Z and these were out of a earlier 80's Berlinetta model. I hope they are the same.

Re: Window channels

update: the ones I got at the bone yard don't fit and are most certainly different from mine. I think they are different because the donor car had manual crank windows and mine are power. Anyway....if anybody needs some window channels for a 3rd gen with manual windows I have them.

You could try Modern day muscle. I got some from them a few years back.

Re: Window channels

IIRC, there is a difference in the year (82-83, then later models?) that they were made and not the model of the car, or the manual/power option. Try searching 'window triangles'. You may be able to sell or trade the ones you got at the junkyard on here under classifieds. Yours might be more valuable actually.

Edit: You could also try to find the felt material as well.

Re: Window channels

I have 1983 dated ones on my '84, one '89 and one '90 and I don't see any difference in the four triangles.

Re: Window channels

The triangles look the same, but the channel underneath it is quite different.

Re: Window channels

82 and 83 are NOT the same as 84+ window channels.

The entire door from 82-93 is build different internally to accommodate the specific 82-83 window channel,... that change took place in 84. The 82-83 window channel can be unbolted into 2 parts; the black "filler" and the channel itself. The 84+ parts are a 1 piece design.

Thought I still had pics,.... but I must have deleted them.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exte...ow-filler.html

P.S. I have both types of window channels available if still needed.

Re: Window channels

Hawks has them, you can buy the whole part, or just the weatherstripping itself.

Re: Window channels

Interesting, I didn't know about that. Mines (above picture) are dated '83 but they must have been made for the '84 model year so they have the newer design.
