Anyone running no console with a manual?

So, I have always really liked older cars where the console is non-existant and you just have the shifter boot and classis bent shifter on the tunnel. I've seen MW's automatic with the console delete, looked pretty good, but i'm looking for any clean examples of manuals that have gone that way.

Of course, I know I need to do a manual swap first, but that's a couple years down the road. Just looking for ideas.

thanks!

I've seen it done, in some older cars, let me see if I can dig up some pics.

Re: Anyone running no console with a manual?

I think the cleanest and easiest would be the top one in the older Trans Am. You may have to buy new carpet, depending on how big the hole is cut for your current center console. Either way, looks like you can just make a metal ring that screw into the floor pan to hold the boot in place. You may even be able to make it work with the auto and be able to convert for the manual later..

Awesome examples, thanks! Yeah, I was thinking that. Might look into that when the weather warms up!

I like it.. but then again I don't, if that makes sense lol.

I can respect it, if done cleanly, but I don't think it's a route would go personally. Although I do think a B&M Megashifter (that's what I have) would look awesome with console delete. I've seen them put into old Chevy K's and S10's, looks good.

Totally makes sense lol. That's kind of where I'm at, and why I'm thinking about it this far in advance. Hopefully I'll make up my mind when the oportunity comes lol.

Re: Anyone running no console with a manual?

The first thing you would need to do is figure out where to put the heater controls & radio. After that you would be fine - but I don't think it will have the same clean look the older cars did.

Here are some pics of the 69 Red/Red RA III/4spd GTO I did a few years ago. That was a fun car - I should have kept it.

Beautiful car!

Yup, the firebird pod is what I was thinking too.
