I ask because I've been looking for one for over 4 months now. Was this a rare option I'm aware most of these cars came with ac. But did not think it would be this hard to find one.

 

A/C Was An Option, A/C Was Never Standard Equipment On These Cars,It Was Either An Individual Option Or In A Preferred Equipmemt Group. The Only Exception Being The 1987 LT

 

Even on the 1le cars that didnt have a/c they still had heat so the dash vents and control panel would still be there. The dashes would be identical with the exception of the control panel itself....

 

my 84 before I swapped out the dash, was a no A/C car. It actually only had the 2 vents above the radio.

Where the side vents were suppose to be, they had indents for where the vents should have been. but no actual vents.

That's how mine is except I have the Iroc z emblem where the camaro is at. and I want to replace another one just like it.

There's one of these dashboards in a Camaro at a local yard here. Threw me for a loop first time I saw it.

 

That's why I want to get a non cracked one. and replace the old one it's not often seen. I've had 4 of these cars and my friends have had several. And I did not know these could came with a dash like this until I got this car.

Are they not just block off plates like on the firebird?
On firebirds they are screwed on to the backside like the vents are, no visible fasteners on front side.

Yes, aren't those just block off plates over the vent holes? The rest of the dash is the same.

 

Camaros did not use block off plates like the firebird.The vent holes are actually filled in.If you wanted to add vents you would need to cut out the holes

 

Ok, so it is the same dash they just cut out the holes for the ac cars. So if you convert to non ac you just have to glue a plate in there.

 

 

Are these non A/C cars or just dashboards? If these are legitimate A/C delete cars what kind of glass do you have, is it tinted? Do your windshields have bluish band at the very top?

 

Standard Glass No Tint.

 

Everything is different. Different ducting, different controls. Look under the steering wheel in the pics you can see the pull cable controls for the fresh air vents. The 91-92 camaros had all the vents and vacuum operated fresh air vents on the non A/C cars.

 

I was wondering that myself.

 

Way back when, I had installed some tweeters there. Those were the holders for them.

The older models had these left/right air vent under the steering column that pulled in outside air. The controls were all cable driven, no vacume. I think I think I still have that old heater box with the controls somewhere.

 

I bought an 86 z28 and am parting it out. it came with the a/c delete package. im going to pull it and keep it all together . if anyone in interested in it let me know

 

Is the 4th gen steering wheel a direct fit for a 3rd gen column? Or would I need a whole column?
