Driver's power window inoperative intermittently

Howdy ya'll! I had this problem towards the end of the summer last year and it only happened two or three times. I roll the windows down for cruising and when I stopped (home or at a store) and I'd go to roll the windows up, the driver's window would not roll up. If I keep letting off the switch and pressing it again it will eventually begin working again. I suspect it was a switch problem but also thought maybe a dead spot in the window motor. If anyone has experienced this or has any insight it would be muchly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm s almost certainly the switch, they are the weak point in the system, very poor quality. Fortunately there are repros avail now.

Thanks for the help! I will probably order a new switch when I order my shocks and SFC's.

My Drivers side does that only when the window is all the way up. And I have new switches and it still does it.

When it's all the way up it doesn't go down? That's a little different. Have you replaced the motor?

Before you go through the trouble of replacing the motor, try jumping power to it directly from a battery and see what happens. I'll bet the motor is fine. There is probably a little binding in the regulator rails. Or a weak power connection, or combo of both. The voltage is deliberately stepped down to make the motors move slowly. When you feed it directly you'll see the difference if your motor isn't toast.

Good Idea, someone(can't find who) on here is making a plug and play switch to do just that. The motor(s) are still good, just very, very slow.

Manta, I think it's formula1LE you're talking about. He makes the harnesses with relays and express up and down. Anywho, I'd think it was the switch or mechanical binding causing the problem. The windings and brushes are the same for up and down. The polarity is just reversed. Remove the switch next time it happens (much easier than the door panel) and jump pink to brown and black to blue to make it go down, pink to blue and black to brown to make it go up.

Yep, that's the guy, thanks Joe, I just sent him a PM.I'm going to give that a shot 1st because the window still works,I have to push down the top to make it start working.
Right now I'm waiting on the glass(has a nice scratch in it)
