I understand it wont pass nhra or ihra, its also not fast enough to require one. Autocross doesnt require one, neither does track days. The car being my daily driver I chose to have full interior, so i went with a low bar. As far as the door bar serving an help, the you ever felt a t top car twist in turns? Sfc helps as do tubular control arms and pan hard bar, the roll bar helps also.I believe its as good as a full frame car now. Plus im having a blast with this car
Keep in mind the backwards way NHRA works... It don't matter if you are fast enough to need it or not.. If it's there, it counts.
Like if you have a roll cage (has the roof halo bars and A pillar bars), you must have a window net just to get through tech... Be it in an 8 sec or 18 sec car... Does not matter.
If you have roll bar, you must have padding
If you have roll bar or cage, to race it on an NHRA track the door bar must be between your elbow and shoulder.
Mine is a street car too and for years was my daily driver.. I used a swing out door bar kit for mine, which is legal down to 8.99 in 1/4 mile IIRC
If you can weld, it wouldn't be much trouble to install a swing out bar to replace the one you have. Also, nice to see someone else using a t grip shifter handle!
