Steering Wheel / Quick Release / Short Hub / Hub Adapter

I'm looking to change my steering wheel setup to something a bit more modern for sake of performance, fitment, feel and future-proof.

Basically I want a Drift Ready setup but am unsure what I need to get or more or less want to see some examples of those with professional steering wheel setups so we have some information to go on.

Requirements:
Deep Dish
Large Diameter (350mm at least)
Red Stitching or Red Bars or Red Stripe
Quick Release
Short Hub/Hub Extender options

Here are some examples.

In the end I'm thinking about the NRG Short Hub and Quick Release with the Driven Steering Wheel. Problem is I'm unsure if these things are universal in a way that the Driven wheel 6bolt will fit to the NRG Quick Release 6bolt. Looking for some tips & tricks on these types of setups. Maybe I'm even looking at the wrong companies for this sort of thing. Are there any higher quality or more trustworthy manufacturers I should be looking into?

Update 11/05/2016: I messaged Driven and am awaiting a response on the setup above. Their seats (FIA approved) look very nice. The harness too, and their shirts, and their stickers lol. I like this company.

UPDATE 11/07/2016: After the weekend wait Driven got back to me and said if I did their whole install, I would also need this...

Once again as though I'm just copying and pasting. I believe the NRG Short Hub & Quick Release mated to the Driven Steering Wheel will be the best overall configuration to achieve what I'm looking for. More than likely this won't happen until Summer 2017 as Winter is Coming and Roxie must hibernate for a few months.

UPDATE 12/01/2016: Welp, I couldn't wait any longer. With JEGS Price match we're looking at a solid $400 for the whole kit. I will be selling my grant wheel and install kit afterwards. Maybe $50 or something. I forget how much Grant wheels are. Anyway, JEGS is awesome and I should see my parts in a day or two. I'll update with before and after photos and videos. See you soon.

UPDATE: 12/03/2016: Lol. Of course something was backordered. The quick release. An update nonetheless. Here is a short video and an image of the new setup. More coming soon.

UPDATE: 12/08/2016: I was pondering this the whole time after I got the wheel and short hub...I hope the quick release has all the screws. Unfortunately it didn't and the Driven wheel didn't come with screws either. Here is the kicker. The DRIVEN wheels come as simple as that, just the wheel. On their site they have Titanium Screw Sets for the wheels and hubs, one countersunk and the other button head style screws. I figured sure, why not, but since they were out of stock when I ordered I decided I'd be okay with whatever came with the wheel and/or quick release and short hub. After finding the wheel doesn't come with screws on it's own and DRIVEN sells a set for $40, I can't help but be curious as to why they are STILL out of stock and also that it's kind of crappy that their only option for 6 screws is $40 (+ shipping). So if people are ordering wheels and hubs from these guys, nobody is able to attach these upon receiving all their parts? Just really stinks. Moving forward I'll update again once she is installed. I'll take before and after photos. I'll be busy this weekend and am still trying to get the Camaro into storage to work on her so, hopefully not too long. Seeing as how interest isn't heavy on this I think we'll fair well with a small vacation ;P ;P. Here's all the parts (minus the pesky steering wheel screws)

P.S. What are the silver metal shim/plates for? Nobody is installing these nor talking about them. No manual for install or parts diagram.

I see what you did there ;P ;P

Thanks for posting that though. Might help in options for different length hubs. I'll dig through my stock parts bin and see if I still have my old wheel. I should. I'll compare once I get the NRG Short Hub.

P.S. I need to update my YouTube.

Re: Steering Wheel / Quick Release / Short Hub / Hub Adapter

I looked into the NRG products but decided they made the wheel stick out too far. With just an adapter and a Grant wheel my pinky finger can actuate the turn signal lever. Interested to see how far your setup goes.

Re: Steering Wheel / Quick Release / Short Hub / Hub Adapter

Understood. This is one of those things I just need to get done so we have the information.
Right now I drive comfortably okay, to pretty comfortable, with my elbow resting on the door arm and my index, middle, ring finger and thumb holding the wheel in the bottom left corner.

I'd like to get the wheel closer so I could rest my elbow a bit more while cruising, but when spirited driving I can control the wheel better as well without having to lean forward to do so. Give me a few weeks and I should be able to start buying the parts. I'm excited for the outcome. Pictures and maybe a short install video will be posted. No worries.

Re: Steering Wheel / Quick Release / Short Hub / Hub Adapter

Found the thread I was thinking of from years ago: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...-steering.html

This side view picture was finally posted and it is what has kept me from purchasing a quick release.

Hey thanks for the link.

That is darn close to what I'm hoping for. Looks like this should turn out well.

Re: Steering Wheel / Quick Release / Short Hub / Hub Adapter

Coming soon. I did install it and I will get pictures soon. Definitely this weekend if not sooner. I wanted to get a nice scenery for the background but, VATS won't let me drive anywhere anymore so I'm trying to get my tuning equipment so I can start tuning things...starting with VATS. Grr VATS.

Stay TOONed.
