Can't figure out how to remove gauge bezel

I tried searching all over the forums and YouTube. I found a lot of walkthroughs for the Camaro, but not the Firebird. I have an 85, I removed all the screws along the top, removed both panels under the steering column and the related screws there. I found the screws behind the switxh panel for the fog lights. But I can't find anymore screws and the bezel won't pop off.

I feel like the remaining screws are behind the switch panel with trunk and defroster buttons, but I can't get to them. Do I have to remove the center console and radio to get to them? Any help is appreciated.

I'm sure you have to remove the panel with the rear defrost, hatch button and sub switch.the rest of the retainers are behind that, then pull on the cluster(it's plugged in)
You don't have to remove the console or radio.

I thought that too, but looking here

http://www.hawksmotorsports.com/dash...trans-am-used/

it looks like that panel is part of the bezel. I could be wrong though.

I really forget how I did get one out.I sold this to a member here a while ago.over on the left side it appears to be where another retainer would be.

I definitely got the leftmost one and the one behind your air freshener, and the rightmost one, and every hole shown there. I must be missing something. Do I have to completely remove the dash top as well?

There most certainly is one back there. But when you said you gotten the one on the right, I thought you meant that one.

You can see that tab in the second picture here.

Yeah that was the one guys, bezel came right off. Neither the dash pad or the center console need to be touched. Thanks again!

Re: Can't figure out how to remove gauge bezel

Yep, just pulled the gauge cluster out of a 89 Firebird today. There is a hidden screw behind that lower valance on the passenger side. Lots of screw to remove. You think you've got them all and it still won't come out. Glad you got it.
