What gauges fit my 87 Formula.

I used to have the 140 mph speedo in my 87 Formula but it broke so I bought a new one. My car has 14.000 miles and this new one one said it had 0 miles but when I got it in the mail it has 120.000 miles. How do I change it to the millage the car actually has. Is this legal. or where can I find a speedo gauge I know will fit it the stock dash for sure. Well I guess that new gauge isn't so knew.
Thanks

Yes it is legal ,you did not say whether it was cable driven if so you can use an electric drill to set it where ever you want.

I think it is the cable driven because it has the plastic gears in the tail shaft and the transmission. but how would I know for sure. Or do you mean The digital style because its not digital.

it is cable driven then, in the back of the speedo should be a place for the drive cable to attach. Inside that there is a square hole which the cable fits into, you can connect the cable to it and the drill to the other end of the cable or find a square bit that fits in the hole, etc. Run the drill forward or backward to get where you need to go.

Disassemble both speedometers, bolt your old odometer into the new speedometer. Done.

Which will work if they are the same make of speedometer or if you are going to do that you just set it by hand.

It is an electric speedo. How do I take the speedo needle off?

It just pulls off. If you want to get fancy, use a fork. Before you pull the needle, turn it back by hand carefully until it stops and notice where the needle is pointing. When you put it all back together, push the needle on, and turn it back until the needle points at the same spot. If you don't do this, the speedometer my end up reading wrong.
