Steering wheel recovering

Anyone have recommendations to contact regarding getting my steering wheel wrapped/covered, and prices? The leather is worn through bad on a couple spots. Thank you

Thank you for the tip I will look him up. I see many places on Google but trust more in what owners here would recommend. Thank you

Re: Steering wheel recovering

Chuck Pelton did mine. Looks brand new and identical to factory. They are $200+, but it was worth it. I think he only recovers the z28 wheels though, no RS or Berlinetta.

Re: Steering wheel recovering

You can order the leather and do it yourself...it comes cut to the size of your wheel, the holes are already there. You get a needle and thread, your only able to do the wheel part of it, not the inside part where the radio controls are...it will cost you like $50 and an hours time...The web site is wheel skins..just go watch a video and see it’s really easy.....

Re: Steering wheel recovering

I tried those wheelskins.

The first was on a dodge truck. The original leather wheel was intact, but so old it left black dye on your hands. The wheelskin turned out great and took a little over an hour to sew it over the original leather wheel. 10 years later it is still pretty nice, although somewhat worn.

The second was on my wife's camaro. It did not turn out good and was eventually scrapped. The leather was cut slightly too big for the thickness of the wheel and was never quite tight enough. Also, her old leather was badly deteriorated and uneven so when the new leather went on over it the result was kinda lumpy in spots. She didn't like how big that wheel was anyway so I put on a Grant leather wheel I had kicking around.

Re: Steering wheel recovering

No but if you Google search it I'm sure that you can find it here or on a Corvette forum. He was doing a lot of Corvette wheels when I dropped mine off.
To search this site, try "chuck pelton site:thirdgen.org" and maybe add phone or call into those keywords
