Inside pillar seal

He all

So I am gearing up to get my interior fixed up for this spring/summer. My original pillars are in perfect shape plastic wise. However they both have an inside rubber seal that is cracked. See pic. Just wondering can I replace these seals and if so what woudl be best to use? A new pair is $139 listed on eBay. Trying to save some money!

Re: Inside pillar seal

I can't help directly, but I was just looking at those on my car this weekend. There are many companies that sell universal seals that could be made to work. I have found 90* L profile seals that I will probably go with. If you do a search you should be able to find something.
Alternatively, you could probably go to Home Despot and get a thick, closed cell foam, weatherstrip intended for home use that could be suitable replacements.

Sadly as always with Ali Express the items suggested are not available anymore. Typical with that site.

JCWhitney... I rebuilt my entire 1971 Jeep CJ-5 with many parts from them, back in 1990.

I will check them out, thanks!

Re: Inside pillar seal

I can't find the site I had been looking at in the past. I was looking at an L profile for a secondary door seal for my 69 Suburban and truck.

Something like this should work though
https://www.zoro.com/search?variants...Rubber%20Seals

Oh wait, this was what I was looking at
https://www.trimlok.com/rubber-extru...iangle-section

Re: Inside pillar seal

You'll probably want to get a sample to determine if the rubber is soft enough to conform like weatherstripping.

Good point

The 3m seal Scooter listed is 233 bucks a roll. Might as well buy replacement pillars at $139 for the pair off eBay.

Re: Inside pillar seal

Or simply leave that strip out. It's not like it keeps water out of the car. It might make a minimal impact on the ability of the A-pillar trim to rattle, but it's more likely to fill the visual gap. Put a foam rubber donut between the clip and the hole in the sheet metal, and glue a strip of black paper the length of the A-pillar, and you'd probably have the same effect for a few bucks.

I kinda like the RCAP28X26L a bit further down in that link.It resembles more the stuff i bought from HD, but maybe not as thick.

Depends which adhesive you get. The other adhesive is much cheaper.

I was looking at that stuff for a different project
