I'm pulling out my interior and getting the center console out was a bear, due to only being able to get the parking brake handle up to about 50 degrees, where it would have been much easier if I could have taken it straight up to 90 degrees. When I start putting stuff back in, is there a way to raise the handle up higher? I didn't want to just unbolt it from the trans tunnel and risk messing something up (I live in constant fear of screwing up!) You can see in the picture how high up the handle would go.
This is the first time I've ever done an interior like this so I'm still learning.
Should be easy for you,.... The Parking Brake adjustment is under the car and easy to access now that there's no drivetrain in the way. The cable that feeds thru the body and under the car has a long threaded rod at the end with a adjustable (31mm?) nut on it. Just get under there, put a small wrench (or vise grips) on squared-end of the cables threaded rod, and use a second wrench to back-of the adjustment nut.
FYI: It's best to re-adjust the brake handle once your done installing the interior and before you install the torque arm and driveshaft. Having it move to 90 degrees makes removing/installing the center consoler easier, but it doesn't actually work as well (IMO) when it's adjusted that far.
I have not gotten the torque arm or driveshaft out yet (hoping to do that this weekend in the daylight) but will definitely be looking for the adjustment nuts once those are out.
I may need extra advice on getting anything else off the transmission as I pull that with the engine, so any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated!
