I applaud (sp?) you for staying with a 3rd gen and making it the way you want. After my gta got totalled last year, i got the vette and it was fun...i miss my gta now and kinda regret buyin the vette. I'm as anti **** as people get and i think your wing sets the car off just right. Good luck with the car i can't wait to see some time slips.
:hail:
- You'll be running 12's for $10K while i run 14's with a 93 vette

Flow, you seem to be a good person but I go against quite a bit with your tastes.
I dont see the logic in what you do with your car, but its your car. I dont see the logic in building a drag car out of a honda but people do it. Some run way better then I'll ever run with my setup, but some are stuck in the 12's trying to figure out why there manual tranny FWD car either brakes axles or doesnt hook...
I will have pictures within a couple days, I actually just got the engine running tonight, still working out some stuff.
Vortec heads, XE274, Holley 750dp, Performer RPM, Hooker LT's.
Similar setups are around 400fwhp. To give you a rough guesstimate, my buddies Z-28 with a 406sbc, heads worked a bit, custom grind Solid Roller, 850DP, exhaust is 11.30's on street tires. Im not making quite as much power as that beast, but I know I have the power for low 12s with my heavy *** car, if not 11's.
I have other issues though, like the 30 year old saginaw 4 speed, and the clutch, and the couple oil leaks, and the blue smoke and and and the, hopefully you will not have these problems.
One thing about my car though, is it is by far more fun then my 3rd gen. Everyone asks questions, revs, thumbs up, compliments, EVERYTHING. The thing sounds like a mild drag car, what can you expect from barely any exhaust and a slit one of the mufflers has a hole in it the size of a basketball.

Ive been off the boards for a while. Did you get your car back yet? Or how long till its done? Also i wanted to know if ou had any pics of that 4th gen gas tank setup. I was thinkin about going that route.

Just a suggestion, i noticed u said u werent gonna be putting a cam in the motor to retain drivability and stock like qualities. You could look into the new stealth cams for the ls1. i hear they obtain stock like idle and gas milage(if u have a light foot) but have amny people running 11.30s on drag radials :hail: The only prob is u need some good springs and retainers. Juicing it may be good but to have the power there all the time i think is better. Plus, those times are with autos who knows with a manual.
Sorry thats also with ported heads. But people on the ls1tech board i have seen run 11.60s with stock ls1 heads. May want to get ur hands on the ls6 intake. I hear its better for the reverse split of the cam. But i am by far a genius on the topic just throwing out ideas. 11s with stock like idle and gas!!!!! Amazing
Nope, haven't picked up the car yet.....
Leaving 1 week from today to go pick it up.......:lala: :lala: :lala:.......Roy will have it done by Tuesday......
I will get under the car and take pictures of that 4th Gen gas tank, as i know there is no information on it available, hell i don't even know how he got it to work, but i'll ask the questions when i get there........

Hey Flynlow, I was wondering how much it cost you just for the LS1, no labor or anything. I am curious becasue I would love to do the swap and just want to know how much a good LS1 runs. thanks

If you shop around, you can find them anywhere from 2K-4500, depending on mileage and what is included in the package (i.e. engine+tranny) If you are doing a LS1 and t56 swap, you can usually find them for under 5K together, and in some cases around 3500 if, like I said, you shop around.

thanks, that is about what I have been seeing on ebay. I don't plan on buying one from there but I just want to see what I should expect to pay for one.

I ahve always loved your car...wing and all. I'm not sure of the production numbers but sems like there were 42 billion million thirdgens made. Anything done to set them apart is good. I really like the side vents and want to do something like that to mine.
I hope the LS1 swap goes well. My future plans may include something like that! For now I ahve to deal with my LO3. Anyhow good job. wish I lived closer to FL. so I could drop by and drool. Any chance you might be able to make to THIRDGENFEST. in Ill. That would be a sweet time for a premier.
Don't let these guys give you a hard time for what your doing, believe me I love working on my car, but if I had the $$$ I'ld let somebody else have the headache of a complete swap like that.
One question about your door handles, what did you do about the door panels and you interior?

OOOOOHHHHHHHHH! Looks great.
Cant wait to get mine in. Just waiting on the motor and tranny mounts.
I think I might be using those vette covers also. I wasnt at first, but they look pretty good sitting there on your motor.
Also, do you know what throttle cable they used on your setup?

Looks like he's close to having it running...radiator cap's still off, no coolant reservoir, no main serp belt.
I need to pop a set of Corvette covers on mine, that looks great.
I like how he did the battery 12VDC main junction on the passenger side strut tower panel. Won't let you mount a strut tower brace there, but it's a nice way to handle that. I snagged an LT1 2-pole box and did this on the driver side fender:

The wire is bundled up in conduit and routed correctly now, fuel lines are secured and routed right also.

That is EXACTLY what I have in mind for my car!! well, other than the magical twin turbos that will suddenly appear on the car from the invisible man.... I'm glad someone was able to get it all done. Now I'm gonna have a really hard time deciding to keep the A/C or not, w/ that new compressor bracket. BTW, any info on the 99+ plastic gas tank?? what needed to be changed/ additional cost??

Easily done with a swap. I recently sold my LS1 and even though i am UBER careful with wiring/heat shrinks/harness tape etc etc etc. I had two wires that were rubbed through the heat shrinks bare. They werent anything that could set the car on fire the were only sensor wires where they were going through the firewall PLUS they were still inside the loom and wrapped in harness tape but still... I was banking on those heat shrinks to be tougher than that.
Considering all the wiring needing done on an LSx swaps scale just a word to anyone who reads this to be EXTREMELY careful with your wiring.
Especially fuel system wiring and fuel lines too. Dont cheap out and use rubber everywhere. Use aeroquip if you need flex otherwise hardlines are the ticket. Stay away from cheap compression fittings as well.
Rant over and a sad recollection of FLYINLOW's car. He was one of the very first LSx swappers on these boards if not the first
RIP 92
Build another one but do it yourself this time LOL
