So i dropped my car off at ThirdGenResource Today.......

After repeated complaints about having a massive wing, large hood, and this "agressive" look with a 305 TBI backing it all up, I decided it was time to do something about it.....

So here it what i dropped it off for......

LS1 & T56 Combo
3:42 Disc Posi rear

All from a 1999 Camaro SS

Also got the following..........

Cool Air intake w/ K&N
NOS 5177 with dual purge out of the fender vents, 100hp jet
Removed Cat, mufflers(basically one straight pipe)
Kenny Brown 3-point STB
MAC sub-frame connectors
18" Chrome Alessio F1 wheels (18x9)

Had to do something to back up the look, figured this would do the trick...........too bad I won't have the car for 6 more weeks......

that sounds like its goin to be a killer combo and a good lookin car to show for it, as long as some *** doesnt try settin it on fire again.

edit: also get them to upgrade the oil pump, my friend was goin down the 1/4 mile in his dads 99 or 2000 or could of it been a 02, anyway, he was goin down the 1/4 mile and the pump died, lost all oil pressure and well blew the motor and the car was stock, now the motor is pushin about 360 hp with stock exuast, with aftermarket stuff should have 400hp

damn! Sounds like a killer set up. I would be happy to wait 6 weeks for that kind of transplant. I like the idea of the purge kit.....really original.........should be sweet as hell...

I went and looked for pics of the wheels you decided on. Good stuff!! Your car is going to look even better, but I think the thing you will enjoy the most is the new motor and tranny. Its going to be a blast to drive!! Good choices!!

sounds pretty good, but where did you get all that cash? Word to the wise, put a cam in the thing before installation. It's the best mod you can do to an LS1. I would recommend the TR 224.

Wow, wish I had that kinda cash! The combo + those mods and the install must be going to cost a ton! Maybe they'll give you a discount for buying so much

Good luck with it, and go take some progress pics! I wanna see!

Thanks for posting that Tim...

FLyinLow...MAKE SURE YOU REPLACE THE FACTORY OIL PUMP! Its not too expensive to do now...

Like Tim said, my dads oil pump failed w/ 37k miles on it (99 T/A) ...That was a really PITA and cost a good chunk of $ to fix.
In 99 GM released a batch of bad oil pumps (and knew about it) but did not warrenty them unless they exploded before the warrenty expired.

LS1s arent worth sh*t. My 3.1 will kick your ***!!! Wanna trade?

Seriously though thats awesome. Glad to see your cars back to normal after the fire too. Ive heard mixed remarks on ThirdgenResource, most seem to favor Hawks Thirdgen, personally Ive never done enough buisness with either one to make a firm choice though. Anyway, keep us posted, and I hope to see you and the car at nationals this year!

Hey look at the bright side though, after 6wks of driving some POS beater, that LS1 is going to scare you sh*tless!!!!!

I doubt this is BS! He had his old motor/drivetrain for sale recently and said it would be in SC, so...I am sure this is for real. If it is, congrats! This is a major investment. Hope all goes well. later

Your car will look a million times better with those new wheels!

Now I must admit, I've always hated your wing...and always will, but I can't wait to see the LS1 and the T56 combo together. Its gonna be a very nice car when its done (except for the wing hahah jk)

Hey i spent over 10 grand at thirdgen resource doing all that work to my car, just to give you some heads up

It will take forever...
like... forEVER

roy is a really nice guy, he knows alot about what hes doing, but he doesnt know everything, when i got my car back it was a mess and needed ALOT of work, but i was pleased for the most part.

he is shady on alot of things thou

for instance, he put on hooker long tube headers, and when he was taking the car for a test drive, he pulled in his driveway and smashed them all up, one header is like reallly really banged up, and he did not offer to fix/replace it, he did nothing, that was just very shady and ticked me off because i just gave him so much money to do all that... i rushed to pick my car up because it was taking so long, so i finished the rest myself but just giving you my thoughts about it, you will need to find someone to do all the tuning because they didnt know anyone that could do it.

hopefully everything will turn out good and good luck

... now just throw those goofy headlights in the trash can, de-ryce the interior, and fix that hood gap and you are all set. (and get a real spoiler of course. )

Well thanks for all the compliments........I'm really excited as well....

As far as the cost........If you didn't want to include the rims, we are looking at about $9,750 - $10,000......That includes all the add-ons, exhaust, labor, parts, etc..........

Nowfor me being broke and the previous post about fire etc,.....Well i have been working for a LONG time, I work 40 hours a week at Target in electronics where i hear "Show me your cheapest DVD player" about 50 times a day........Pays the bills, and the car, about all i ask for......BUT i invest my money with Target, and those of you who invest know that you can't withdraw money while it's invested without facing large penalities.....That is until i turned 19 years old, which was the 29th of December.............I have sent e-mails to everyone who helped out in the fire damage.............

Plus up until a couple of months ago before i moved to college I lived at home, good way to save money for the car.....

Hood gap is being fixed too by Roy considering that i bought the hood from him.....

I'll get videos and pictures as soon as it's done, i'm sure Roy will be sending me pictures as the swap continues and i'll add them to this thread.......

that LS1 is going to scare you sh*tless!!!!!
No kidding, I at one time thought my 305 TBI was fast....

Not to mention that RS badges are going back on the car, hopefully people don't assume it's a 6 cyl.......

I'll get pictures and what not of the car later, but i was told by Roy that an LS1 will only raise the front end of the car about .5 inch......not the 1 inch as stated in the LS1 Q&A in the engine swap board, but i'll get measurements when i get the car back and get a specific answer.......

Thanks for the heads up about the Oil pump, Roy has ran the engine in the car before i arrived, and assured me that the car has good oil pressure, but later in the week when i talk to him, I'll have him look to see if he can tell if the pump has been replaced.......

Any questions feel free to ask

Goodbye fellow 305'er but see you need to put real quiet mufflers tell the **** boys its a 6 and take their money but thats just me. People claim i have a 6 cause its a rs and i seem to take in soem good cash from the burner boys. I think i'm going to apply at target tommorrow and keep my zam driver and welding jobs on the side. The purge out the vents a++ idea thats gonna be bad and lets get some pics when its done if you think about it 6 weeks isnt a whole long time for that amount of work. Thats gonna be one sick winged ride:hail: :hail:

Thanks for the heads up about the Oil pump, Roy has ran the engine in the car before i arrived, and assured me that the car has good oil pressure, but later in the week when i talk to him, I'll have him look to see if he can tell if the pump has been replaced.......
have him replace the pump with something better, TAdan's 99 TA was in great condition and had great oil pressure but it was one of the unlucky ones and the oil pump just went, im sure you dont want that to happen at all, so id suggest talkin to Roy and seein if he can just upgrade the oil pump, to something just better then stock so you wont have that problem.

you guys act like that's outrageous.....it costs to do nice things to these cars and while what he's paying isn't cheap it's right up there with what's expected.

you have to pay if you want to play...

Kandied, I dont recall anyone suggesting it was outrageous... they were just saying it was alot of money, and it is. Not all of us have that kind of cash. We're just trying to give a long standing third gen member props for saving up and going through with it cause we all know its difficult
