Wierd LT1 bracket request!
I am switching my LT1 over to vette brackets to restore A/C and I ran into a snag. I have everything I need except two things: the vette power steering pump pulley and the top to the A/C compressor. The pulley is no problem but the compressor part is. I bought a compressor through the parts store I work at and it did not come with the top plate that fastens to the A/C lines. I checked GM and they said I would have to by a new compressor. I am not buying another compressor! Local salvage yards treat me like I am crazy when I ask about a used compressor or any other parts for a vette. Does anyone know where I can obtain this part or where I might start looking. Summer is here and I sure would like to have A/C.

You can have AC with the F-body brackets, you can get this adapter here http://www.acsource.com/index.asp?Pa...ROD&ProdID=377 or one from Carquest if you have already modified the k-member on the passenger side for the compressor to clear.

I am aware of that compressor block. I believe I was the first to post about it. I notched my crossmember to clear the compressor, but I did not like the way everything fit. I did not like how close the lines would have been to my headers. This is why I am changing brackets. The vette brackets also simplify power steering lines. I have already purchased the vette accessories and I think I wil be happier with them.

I would really like to find the top plate from a used compressor and put it on mine. I will have most of the F-body brackets availible if anyone is interested. I have checked with a couple vette salvage places online and had no luck.

Thanks for that link and picture! That's exactly what I've been looking for, for my LS1 swap! I'm using the stock LS1 AC compressor with a notched k-member and 3rd gen or 4th gen AC lines won't work!

I ordered the main bracket from GM( hasn't come in yet ),the tensioner and compressor are from Autozone, the idler pulley and balancer are from NAPA, and the bolts are from a local GM dealership. I am going to use my alternator and power steering pump from the F body setup. I am going to swap everything as soon as the bracket comes in.
just wondering. This is the a/c alternative i went with. Would this have been cheaper. its an a/c relocation kit. It comes with a/c delete pulley, belt, a/c relocation bracket.

I saw that and posted it months ago. I thought about it, but I decided on the vette accessories after seeing pics of a few cars. I have about $500 in my vette stuff. I also had the F body A/C compressor lock up shortly after getting my engine.

it uses the R-134A F-body LT1 compressor. Dont know if camaro's and vette's are the same. I'd say contact your local GM dealer.
I was planning on reuseing all the stock 3rd gen a/c except the compressor. Havent completely finished it yet. My old A/C was in the exact same location and i hooked up the lines to the LT1 compressor. But, i dont know if is going to leak or not. I live in one state and my project car lives in another. I dont get to work on it that often.
