I took the car to get weighed today and I was pretty pleased with it, pretty much what I expected. It was 3420 with me in it and 3300 without me. Now mind you this is a full weight no weight reduction car (except tubular suspension stuff) I have about ~50-60 lb 12" subs and box and amp that I can take out, spare tire and jack, and AC compressor that is sitting there doing nothing. If I take all that out I think i can get to 3200 without me fairly easily. What do you guys think?

You think I should be closer to 3100 or that I would be closer to 3100 with the weight reductions I was talking about?Originally posted by Firebat

Maybe they do I duno...I have 2 12" subs with a 1500 watt amp and the custom box that fits in the trunk area of the hatch so it could add up to 100 lbs.Originally posted by Firebat

Well I took the subs and amp and box out, and I took out the spare tire (there was no jack for some reason, making the tire pretty useless), and I tried to take out the AC compressor but I couldnt because when I uplugged it the car died out when I turned on the lights
. Anyway I reweighed it and it was 3360 with me and 3230 without me. If I wanted to go a little more hardcore and start removin seats and stuff like that for the track I might be able to get it down below 3200 without me in it.

3/4 of a tank...take half a tank off gas out and thats a good amount of weight. How much does a gallon of gas weigh anyway?Originally posted by C Murda

Well maybe after I burn half a tank of gas (which shouldnt take too long lol) Ill go and reweigh it. Could be a good 30 lbs or so. Id also like to rear mount the battery to put some more weight over the rear wheels.Originally posted by STRIFE69

Funny that you say there was no jack in it. I had an 87 Firebird base model, donut, but no jack Originally posted by 92CamaroLS1

So I ended up using my buddies jack instead when I had a flat tire.Don't forget carpet and such either. This site says about 50lbs just for that, I think it was 18lbs for each front seat, 30 for the whole back seat.

you're still doing much better than the stock 4th gen LS1's. The stock 02 trans am wieghs 3500-3600 lbs, no driver.

Yea i dont know why there wasnt a jack in there. But if I go to the track I would consider taking out the rear seats.Originally posted by jrmaatta

Yea Ill take it for a later model third gen with options like power mirrors and power windows. I just hope I can hook up enough to run a decent time.Originally posted by Firebat

Damn straight. When it comes to weight = Iron >>> Aluminum. If I remember right, the LS1 block is only like 160-170 lbs?? So LT1 is probably closer to 250+Originally posted by xtremeirocz
