My buddy has a 2002 TA that was an automatic...He bought a wrecked car to use the 6-speed. So i bought the motor off him for $1500.00 and I got the trans off LS1Tech.com message boards.
It was a little bit time consuming figuring out everything you need but I wouldn't say the labor portion was very difficult if you are mechanically inclined.

Not really...I couldn't really even guess.....I worked at a buddy's garage so I imagine I went out there about 4 days a week for 4 hours at a time for a month. I'd say anywhere around 60-70 hours. Thats Completely from a running carbed 355ci motor to a Ls1-6speed and gas tank and rear end swap.

Looks great, congrats. I wish mine was done, but I'm a slacker and never work on the car.

That is a kit from Fbodymotorsports.com he just cuts the stuff and then sells it as a kit. I figured it was a lot easier than fabbing up something and I think it looks pretty darn good.

Few questions
Hey , first off nice job man ! Looks really neat all wires tucked and all , mines got more wiring than downtown Toyko hanging out !
Quick job on the install to it took me forever, I think I was so nervous about remounting the motor mounts and lining up the driveshaft, trans, torque arm, and new trans brace I lost sleep thinking I had it slightly off and was gona get vibration lol,
I wanted to ask you about the 4th gen rear end swap, was that pretty much bolt on or what mods did you have to do? I heard the only problem was the offset of the tires. I was really wanting to pick one up for the disc brakes, gears, and well just plain newer.
Also what torque arm did you end up using? I kept my stock one in there. I was wondering if the stock one also matched up to the 4th rear.
I also love your CAI, I was going for the same set up but I was gona cut my pass batt tray out and have the cone sitting tho the hole, I seen some other guys doing that and they said it dont catch rain/water. Where did you order the elbows, pipe and clamps?

^^ that air filter in your pic is KILLING hp.
you are robbing the engine of much needed air.
the intake you mention will do a great job.
if you use a k/n filter well oiled, it will repel most rain water without hurting the engine.
looks nice!

yeah first off thanks for the compliments. The 4'th gen rear was very easy. It's pretty much a direct swap..The offset is different but i'm running 4'th gen Z06 wheels anyway so I dont need any spacers. The stock torque arm bolts up no problem. I just bought the new brake lines but moded the bracket for the e-brake cables.

thanks
Thanks for the arm/rear info, I wonder is 3rd gen offsets will fit the 4th rear? I also saw that CAI kit on fbody and its $250 , I found some sites where I can make my own kit took me forever to find em, Im make a custom CAI kit going to the pass side bat tray under there. im post it when Im done, my air filter on there now is rediculous I know my brothers calls it the " the go cart filter "

Your wheels will stick out about 1.5 inches on each side if you use 3'rd gen wheels...Turns the car into a mud slinger if you ask me....I wouldn't do the rear until ya get some wheels.
I didn't pay 250 for the CAI...I'm trying to find my receipt but I know it wasn't that much.

Here is a shot of 3rd gen rims on a 4th gen rear

Everything is the same except the parking brake cable, you have to make a new mount to hold it cause the thirdgen mount is somehow in the wrong spot. I havnt changed mine yet.
As for all the cold air comments, $250 is WAY to expensive for $10 bucks worth of tubing.

after I priced everything separately, I would have saved like $85 bucks to buy everything separately and cut and fit it all.....Maybe not to everyone else, but to me, it was just as easy to order and spend a little extra money and a lot less time worrying about it.

ive bought stuff for 250 that i could have pieced together for 350, and wished i had, because i would have had the choice of building it custom to my needs exacty.
not buying a part and hope it fits your car the way its intended.
both get the job done.

Ok, so 10 bucks is an exageration.
I'm just saying a plastic elbow and some ***** tube plus a cone filter shouldnt cost more than 100 bucks.
I'll probably just fab up something to take the car to a local ***** shop and have them make me something.
Thats the nice thing about ricers, they are used to getting stuff cheap so you can avoid the LS1 price hike.

Jeremy, where did you get the rubber elbow?
And I'd like something like that if you made it, except it needs to go to the passenger side, as thats where the !coal canister was.
