Finaly dynoed my LS1 powered Third Gen

Well first of all i baselined the few weeks ago with just exhuast and a CAI and it put down 330/343, not to bad for just exhaust.

After this i got to installing my heads and cam on it. Heads were a dart 225's and cam was a 228/232 .644/.648 112 + 2 on comp lsk lobes. In 105 degree weather i was able to put down 425/396, thats almost a 100 hp gain so i have to say i was very happy. Especialy since i was on crappy california 91 gas, and my restrictive y-pipe.

I also have a 4.10 ring gear out the back which hurts the dyno a little(8-10 is the norm). Car pulls like a beast now all the way to red line with is 7000 rpms right now. I made peak hp at 6400 but it didnt start to fall to about 6800, also peak tq. was at 4800 but the nice thing was i had 350 tq. at 3000 rpms whic his really good for teh size of cam i had.

Overall I was very happy, my exhuast is still choking it down a little(2.5 y-piipe smashed is 2 spots, and cats) so i'm looking into doing a custom 3 inch dual set up and see if i can hit 445 hp.

Heres a pics of the car

and a short vid of it idleing(crappy vid but gives you an idea of how it sounds.

Just wanted to say thanks to all of those who helped me on this board in trying to put this motor in. Now its time to get to the track and see what kinda of times i can get.

Those are very respectable numbers. Teh Dart heads for those motors seem to be making very good power and they're very fairly priced as well...

Nice car.

No they dont, right now it has a freshened up 10 bolt with a 4.10 ring gear, so a 9 inch is prolly in the very near future.

ref go? taking it you're talking about the smog ref. I've never gotten it smoged and i never will. I play hockey back east for half the year so i have MI plates on it, so no smog for me , because theres now way i could pass, it has none of the emission stuff on it.

That blue intake is absolutly ugly! You should take it off and give it to me

Nice numbers, I can't wait to see what mine does, specs in my sig...seeing you with a similar setup above 400HP makes me feel good, cause thats what I'm shooting for.

If you got long tubes on it, then i see no reason why you couldn't get over 400 hp.

Very nice. What year engine was it and how many miles did it have on it? I like everything except for the exhaust sound. Were there any mufflers on it or just the shorties and cats? GL at the track!

It was pulled out of a 01 SS and has about 45k on it now, as for the exhaust i like it but everyone has there own idea of what sounds good. Its long tubes to a catted y to a GMMG.

I havn't checked the milage yet but with just exhuast and 3.42 i averaged 29-31 when driving to MI, then on teh way back with the 4.10 i averaged about 26-29. I'll check the milage next time i fill up and let you guys know, but my guess is i lost about 2-3 mpg.

Its a stock MAF and a stock ported TB, and yes it has Spohn coil overs on the front and rear.

That cam is a fawking monster. Hows the driveability with that? I'm thinking you should definatly be able to squeeze more HP out of that. Whats your rear end setup? You have a 10 bolt in there? Who makes the gears your using? What posi? I notice you have a 2.5" y pipe. Is that the hawks LT setup? I was thinkinga bout that witht he 2.5 ORY, but I am not sure how restrictive it would be on power. It would go into my 3" Magnaflow cataback...

Oh yeah... Who did your tuning on that? Was it tough to get it dialed in pretty good?

The driveabilty after the tune is just fine, i would say drives about 95% like stock. Before the tune it wasn't to bad but somthing i defintaly would not want to DD.

Its the stock 10 bolt, that was rebuild and has GM 4.10 gear in it with a girdle. A 9 inch is the next thing on my mod list cause the 10 bolt is on borrowed time.

Yes its the hawks catted set up, which is actuly pretty nice, but it does rub at times, and i did happen to smash one side of pretty good. I'm looking into that X-member a member on here sells that allows you to run 3 inch duals under it. Then prolly set up a 3 inch dual set up with bullets dumped before the axle.

I think the 2.5 is ok but it is holding me back some, a 3 inch is def. what you need for a high reving ls1.

As for tunning charlie at A&A corvette did it, did a pretty good job, nice thing is i can go back as many times i want for a touch up on the tune, or if i put somting new on it for free.

Thinks that everything you asked
