GTO motor into 3rd gen

Anybody put a GTO motor into a 3rd gen yet? Is it just the oil pan that needs swapped out?

I've been getting ready for it for a few months, I'll hopefully have it done next month. The only different part should be the oil pan and rear sump. I ordered an F-body pan and pick-up line today from GM; the pan comes with almost everything you'll need, then get the pick-up line. The deflector had a different part number than the LS2 but it looks the same; I bought it anyway and I'll take it back if I don't need it.

i'm currently working on the install right now
for physical engine: oil pan, pickup tube and windage tray

Electrical.... i'm using the factory 04 harness, almost there....
um, typical coil pack rub on the pass side rear to the a/c box
having some difficulty w/ the transmission, since it has the park neutral switch on the side by the shift arm. have to close off the o2 hole from the hawks headers and drill a new one in a diff location. otherwise, i used a jegster torque arm, spohn crossmember for the automatic worked nice.
needed a new trans mount since the gto is diff.
u need the engine mounts from gm and the bolts that bolt them to the block
otherwise not bad.
i custom made 1 trans cooler line, and the other i got new from gm for a trans am. hmmmmm....anything else i can assist with? i'm hoping to get this started really soooon.

i got my motor to kick over last night,
main electrical connectors to worry about are connector 101 which is right near the mass air connector/ iat sensor/ a/c pressure switch connector, its an 8 pin connector that has power for the injectors/coils/ transmission/etc.
also that huge c206 connector that goes under the dash.

i;m gonna hook up my cats and ypipe tonight, and start to button it up so i can get it ready to run. i'll leave an update alittle later.

as soon as i can, i'm having the normal fitment issues with the headers/y pipe, etc.... 1 main issue is that im gonna have to reposition the drivers front o2 due to the fact the gto has the trans range switch on the side of the tranny, also i need to figure a way to hook up my shifter cable.... gonna send the computer to fastchip.com to have them remove the security and do some minor tuning.

Those are some old pictures, i havent' had a chance to take new ones, this is a slowwwwwwwww, moving project, since i work full time , i have a life and another car to drive in. i miss my car alot, but hey i just put in a 4th gen rear, boxed lca's and an adjustable pan hard bar. not to mention the jegster torque arm.
i'm gonna go work on it tommarow again, and try to fix the transmission linkage, and maybe figure a way to route the y pipe around the trans crossmember... i really hate modifying stuff that i paid so much for..(freakin hawks headers/ypipe/cats...) but if thats what i have to do, then so be it.

FYI - The stock AC compressor won't work with the BMR K-member. I had the Spohn piece on order for 4 months (which is supposed to work with the front drives), but they kept delaying production so I ordered a BMR and got it in one week. The BMR piece requires no compressor or an aftermarket set-up that moves it high on the passengers side.

Reference my above post: you'll need the F-body oil deflector.

what "mounts" did you get from GM? I'm using mount plates and solid moroso mounts on mine but I'd prefer a direct bolt in for sure. I don't really mind the solids since it'll primarily be a race car anyway with occasional street duty

Depends on what k-member you're using. The BMR piece uses F-body mounts, I'm not sure what to use if you keep your k-member.

i'm using the factory gm trans am/camaro motor mounts, and on my frame i'm using the spohn adapter brackets.
i picked up a shift arm from a trailblazer, looks like that should solve my shifter linkage problem, since it's bent slightly,
i still got to relocate my drivers o2 sensor bung,

ive been a little busy working on the rest of the car lately......ttops, floorboards, etc....

finnally got a chance to get on here, i got the GTO motor running in my car, tranny shifting, i'm currently .looking into an alternator issue. my tester said i was charging at 15.5volts...i think thats alittle high, i'm going to get my other volt meter and just double check. that hawks y pipe is definetly a tight tight fit, i had to hack my tranny crossmember.

considering the amount of money i wasted on my tpi, i wished i saved my money and did it earlier...those tpi's are just a waste of money, they will never run right, even with the correct programming. their computers are just tooooooo slow.
