I had to buy the High Performance Pontiac magazine because of your car. Its for sure one of the best customized firebird thirdgens. Not only that, you got the power, suspension, brakes, and interior on top of that.
Shaving the rear side marker and keeping the front marker is what I'm going to do now also, was in debate about that forever until I saw your car.

Great Scott! Wow thats a lot of work and effort I'm lost for words although saying I was proud of you is probably most fitting seeing as you have chosen to put this kind of effort into a third gen. With that amount of mods and work clearly you love third gens cuz you could have chose any platform to start with and in the end it probably wouldn't have made any out of pocket difference.
Hope you enjoy every mile behind the wheel. Awesome job

I like to think my car is nice but there are folks in a different league.. How is the air over there?? I am guessing it is pretty sweet.
GOOD JOB!!
GOOD JOB!!
Re: Custom LS1 Swap 84 TA
Thanks for all the coments, it was a lot of work and MONEY cuz I did all the work outside of shooting the paint yet had me hands in that even, but in the end it was worth it. As for the air up here (haha) it sometimes sucks cuz you want to take it out and beat on it at the track but then you don't cuz of what you may do to it so you just go half way on the street. That is the hard part. I do drive it though, but not as hard as I built it to handle. I didn't want a car that was all show and no go, that sucks, I also wanted to show people that 3rd gens are really nice cars and not just the red neck rides most in the hot rodding world think. I am interested in selling it now, it has done what I built it to do that was win and get in a mag, now I am ready for the next build. Thanks again for the complaments.

BLAH!! No way, no more, not for me. Made me think about what grass roots hot rodding really was/is anyways. It was guys with more time than money buying old cars and making them cool and fast with their wits, skills and style. Thats the essence of what it all about for me. Embracing that mind set its easy to see that third gens ( and yes Fox Mustangs ) are the truest representation of hot rodding today. The bodies are affordable and have a decent suspension system to start with and can be built to limitless performance levels If you have time and skill. Stlye of course is in the eye of the beholder but i for one have always loved the look of third gens and feel that as time rolls on they will only grow in appeal. Anyways morning rant over. Back to work
Nice car!
Re: Custom LS1 Swap 84 TA
Those are very good points, 3rd gens are the way to go for an American hot rod in todays inflated car market,(oh yea, and we got the LSX motors to help us go fast) this is why I can't wate to build me a rat rod. I have two old trucks a 40 Dodge and a 46 Chevy. I want to do the Dodge first I have a 440 I am going to put in it try to keep it under 2200 lbs tube frame, and around 700 hp a RACE/a little street car. A ride with no thrills other than just the raw power.

Looks like your interior panels are all new. Did you get them new or restore them? And your door panels are they fourth gen?
Car looks awesome!

Re: Custom LS1 Swap 84 TA
I don’t have any pics but I will tell you what I did. I cut the parts out of 4th gen panels that I wanted to use, then used the old 3rd gen panel as a template. I just arranged the 4th gen parts as I wanted, marked them on the stock panel and took them to Kim’s Trim and Upholstery in Cynthiana, KY. There I explained how I wanted the arranged and what I wanted them to look like and left them for them to do. They did not cut the holes out, they just made a starter hole and I cut the holes as needed, however they did attach everything. They do very good work especially with what little they had to go on, just an old panel with markings on it and loose parts, they never seen the car, but did a great job mixing the good fit and newer style of the two.
