starter help
ok, so im still finishing up my project (CA legal 2004 GTO into 88 RS), but while i have a car out of the college shop (summer vacation hate it, comes fall hehe), im trying to get around the starter problem. I got Powermaster XS torque and it didnt clear the engine. I switched to one from Summit, looks like it fits, but it is so much different from other ones - gear actually sticking out from the mounting plate.plus the bolts are rubbing plastic cover on the bellhousing. i got a bad feeling about that one.I tried MSD one, which clears BUT the mounting plate hole for the starter doesnt match the hole on the plastic cover (it should be higher at least half an inch or so), otherwise it fits perfectly.
Mini is the only way to go for me, for longer ones would not clear exhaust.
What starters are you guys running?

Re: starter help
thnaks guys for replies..i was in starter hell for a while
Trakcar i came to that idea too...
V8Rumble thats the one i got, but i dont know, the way it sits when bolted one - it just doesnt look right. plus the bolts are terrible, dont use them, they almost broke the plastic cover for trans bellhousing (mine anyway) the outside one catches and drag on the plastic.
however it clears my modified edelbrock shorties. i guess i should try stock GTO one - one more starter in my collection wont hurt...
