Need All the help LS2 6 Speed Auto

Well heres my liste guys.

07 Silverado. Was supposed to get the 6.0/6 speed swap. Fully forged, L92 heads, cam, blower. Now its just gonna get a cam and a 6 speed auto.


Current specs 5.3 AFM 4 speed auto.

now that i have the 91 Z28 i want to put the 6.0/6 speed in it. With a blower. Speartech has done this but without the 6 speed.

Current specs 350 TPI, 4 speed Crapo matic.

Inventory.

2 x 6L90E, 1x6.0L forged/cammed/L92 heads.




Ok iv been reading up on the installs and all.

Couple of questions.

1. Would the truck intake fit under the hood of the third gen? What if i get a cowl hood?

2. Has anyone done a 6 speed ( 6L90E ) with a truck 6.0 converted to a ls2 acc in a third gen?

3. Did they get the manual mode working on the 6 speed?

4. What combo should i go with?

put the 6.0/6 speed in the truck then take the 5.3 afm engine and shuv it in the maro?

the 5.3L has the ls2 heads, and made stock 300 hp to the rearwheels on the truck.

or just keep the 5.3L in the truck, cam it, and drop the 6 speed in?

and install the 6.0L with the 6 speed plus blower to the maro?

-No, the front of the intake sticks up to high for the hood to close

-Not that ive seen, i know the 6L60e's have a much larger body on them, be prepared for some fabrication on the transmission tunnel.

Put the 6.0 in the camaro, and do the 6spd auto. I want to see how it fits.

Plus with the 6 speed im trying to find the shifter from a g8 or any other car that had manual mode on. Maybe do a tap shift from a vette.

I know the truck intake wont fit a stock hood, but will it fit a cowl hood?

And can you show me a pic of where you taped the hole for the alternator?

the 5.3L has 14k miles on it man, AFM gets me 24mpg on long trips in my 5700 pound truck.

Stock Dyno 300 RWHP with 316 RWTQ on dynapack dyno.

Ive gotten offers for 2k. No way ill let it go for less then $2500.

cant get 300hp engine for less then 5k these days.



But ill give you the 350 TPI for 500 that was fully rebuilt.

u can get 5.3l long blocks at the yards around here for less the 1k (not that urs isnt worth 2500 or so seeing how it has the low miles and all) swap to the right cam and u can make over 400hp with stock heads. thats my plan after reading this build. http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...ine/index.html
and my current motor makes right at 300hp and it wasnt even 2k. so if u know where to look and what to do u can afordably make power. and I HATE TPI....low end torque is awesome but i dont like motors falling on their face at 4500rpms. thats why i got rid of my tpi.....

true true, but this is AFM, so it should get well over 30mpg with the right gearing and tranny.

Plus the 1k engines, arnt the AFM ones.

this engine came with 243 heads, thats the ls2 if im not mistaken.

Got the 5700 pound truck 15.2 1/4 times. thats low 13's if not high 12's stock for a third gen.

so its worth the 2.5k for 30mpg and high 12's

yeah thats what i mean urs is well worth 2500 dont get me wrong..but thos 99 up lm7s are all i need and they dont come with that big price tag that the ls badged engines get....good luck with whatever route u decide to go

im thinking should i go for a 11' second truck.

or a 10 second camaro.

what would i like to drive daily. Its to hard.

My 5.3L is an '03, 5k on it, paid $1500. Its the 706 Casting heads rather then the 799 that you would have (Lucky bastard!)

The AFM (if im decoding properly, the HO motors) is similar to the other 5.3L's, they got Flattop pistons, with coated skirts, then the 799 Casting Cylinder heads (05+ LS6 heads)

actually its the 243 castings.

they could be the same. I am lucky i guess.

Exactly! I'm also looking for 30 mpg (in fact, it's part of my sig on the other board), & I've been told that I have a decent chance of achieving it too!

I took a rather small bit of grief on this forum for what I've paid for my swap project (and it IS a good chunk higher than I'd like for it to be), but for what I've gotten, I REALLY can't complain too much. I mean heck, I was regularly seeing USED L92s go for more money than what I paid for my zero-mile unit!

Sometimes dropping a bit of coin up-front costs less in the long run...

Keep us posted, I'd like to see how this one goes!

Wish i had the cash for one of those L92's when they were forsale, but i was broke.

On the thought of cheap 300hp motors, my 5.3L was 295hp in factory form, i put an Ls6 intake & headers on, can gaurantee its well over 320hp now.

Id sell it for $1500 as is too haha
