3rd gen engines ???
O.K. here is the deal , i have a chance to buy a 5.3 barely used eng. from a 1/2 ton p/u , 02 i think . price IS RIGHT , it's a long block , iron block , alum. heads . it has no acc. , no intake , no exhaust man. , no coil packs . did i mention the price is right ? my thoughts are to p/u a clean v-6 and do a transplant with a t-56 . i know about suspension etc. , yes eng. will be freshened up . yes i also know this will not be a weekend project . my problem is i know NOTHING about these engines . can anyone reccomend a good website that i can do some research on these engines , or better yet what series this eng. would be ? thanks , you guys have never let me down before . remember the only dumb/stupid question is the one that is not asked . yes i did a search . thanks .

The price isn't good when it's a longblock and you need to find and put everything back onto the engine. It'll be cheaper to just find a complete engine.
This isn't a third gen engine. It's an LSx engine.

Yes, it is an LSx engine.
So, let's move this to that subforum.

And read the sticky https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...want-swap.html , of course.
You might be able to piece things together. I've seen PCM/harness for sale on eBay. Haven't seen coils, though. I'll have an LS1 intake available soon.
What are you going to do for a transmission? Earlier transmissions are not a direct bolt-on.

T-56 would be my choice , anyway as i mentioned in my first post this is an idea . the engine is free/almost so i'm going to give it some thought . thanks .
