LS1 Conversion Mounts

Are the Spohn/Hawks engine mounts the only ones that will work for a Thirdgen application? Will the transdapt or any others work?

I tried the transdapt ones and they didn't work for some reason The mounts were off by 3/4" or so.

The TransDapt mounts will work if you don't use the factory AC.

Re: LS1 Conversion Mounts

They don't line up with my moroso solid motor mounts and tubular kmember. I'm assuming it's the possibility of all 3 aftermarket parts being slightly off allowing for the issue. No a/c, power steering, etc on this car. Hoping to get the car trailered up to my buddies shop and begin cutting/welding to make it fit. If I waste more than 3 hours on it, I'll just order a front plate from S&W race cars and just put in a front plate real quick. nothing on my camaro ever wants to just bolt in, just for once I'd like to not have to fab an aftermarket "bolt in" part, but that's racing.

jeeze steve, seems like a ton of racecar type stuff there....

just kidding...but it does seem like your car is getting more and more racecar treatment everyday, whilst mine is getting closer and closer to a true streeter again.

to answer the original poster's question. the spohn motor mounts are not the only ones, but they sure to work GREAT. i just installed mine this afternoon. i don't have any personal experience with these other than this set, but i've heard great things about them. also, if you're planning to use the hawks headers, they were designed to work in conjuction with the spohn mounts so fitment is garaunteed if you use these mounts.

Re: LS1 Conversion Mounts

i got radio, plates, insurance, wipers, heat, 2 seats in the car, all glass, etc etc. It's still a street car no doubt. My car didn't have A/C in 84 or power options anyways so when people cry about it to me, I tell them this isn't a brand new 4th gen that I gutted. They come that way from GM.

I am going to use the stock manifolds, albeit turned around with a S475 turbo hanging off them

the only thing out of that list that i don't have is a radio...not sure if i'm going to put one back in it or not. i don't have the factory hvac controls or box in, but i do have a heater. it's electrical though...

oh, and i have all four seats in my car :thumbups:

Re: LS1 Conversion Mounts

sounds like yours is getting more and more of the race car treatment every time I check into it. Defrosters front and rear are needed up here so that electrical box wouldn't work out for me for heat I don't think.

I never finished the install, but as far as I got, I didn't see any problem. Are you sure you've got them on the correct side, not upside down or anything?

Re: LS1 Conversion Mounts

you can't put them on upside down since they reuse the old stlye setup. There's 2 tapped holes on the top and 1 hole on the bottom that reuses the ls1 factory hole. I still haven't gotten it up on a lift to look at it from below, but I'll post what the solution was when I get it to my buddies shop.
