LT1 water pump issues

Issue 1: Small issue w/ the LT1 swap. Motor is out of a '95 Camaro, but the water pump is from a Caprice/Impala SS LT1. I plan on using the standard 3rd gen coolant reservoir and radiator, but have noticed that the Caprice's use the coolant bottle w/ the pressure cap on it. Do I need this type of bottle if using a Caprice LT1 pump? I know I can use the 3rd gen bottle and radiator w/ a Camaro LT1 water pump. I just happen to have a Caprice one on hand.

New Issue 2: Water pump bolt snapped off. After drilling the broken bolt in the block, I tried an EZ-Out, which has broken off as well. The drill bits won't drill into the EZ-Out. Eh, it never ends. I'm out of ideas.

Re: LT1 water pump issue

It's the same waterpump, the caprice doesn't have a radiator like the one i the 3rd gen, or 4th gen.

Re: LT1 water pump issues

Any chance of getting a welder in there to tack to it?

I tried welding a nut to the broken bolt, but that did not work. I ended up using my Dremel w/ a carbide cutting tip. I was able to grind out the broken EZ-Out and bolt. A bit time consuming, but I was able to save the threads.

Re: LT1 water pump issues

Ended up using the Camaro style water pump and installed the reseal/bearing kit (purchased from the h2opumpman). Time to move on and get the trans in there.
