92 rs LS1/t56 swap

So I started this about a month ago. Dissasembled the entire car almost, Had some surface rust I got rid of. I'm repainting and clearing the entire under carriage, engine bay, and behind the headlights (I'm picky like that) as we speak, hoping to get that all done tonight. Have I think about all the parts I need. Hawks Long tubes, crossmember, PA racing tubular K member, HPtuner, 230/223 .575/.563 111 thunder racing cam, subframe connectors. Still need a fuel pump, AND if anyone has a Borla catback they want to get rid of PM me!

Good luck on your swap

Few things first...

Dont mask car parts with plastic before painting. Paint does not adhere well and will flak off when the gun sprays near it. This makes a mess in wet paint. Experience

Why are you masking most of the engine bay when they are very simple to remove? Like the impact bar and various wiring harnesses

Why didnt you pull the TBI harness with the engine? Engine harnesses are rather difficult to untangle from an installed engine while their body connections are easy to disconnect. The C100 near the booster takes a 1/4" and its off, the ECM simply unplugs, undo the C207 and pull it from behind the fender and its off. You have to rework this harness anyways and itll be a huge paint to keep moving it when the engine bay is sprayed

How exactly does the harness that comes out from the fender disconnect? I didn't see anywhere where it just unplugged or anything. I popped the lower cover on the bottom of the dash and the kick panel off but there were several different wires running different ways, I didn't see anything that looked like the harness that just unplugged.

Unplug from the ECM, and then there is a bulkhead "passthru" in the passenger side fender area... not completely sure, but, i think it would be easier if you took off the p side fender?

Right but where is the ECM exactly? I didn't see it. I mean it's gonna have just all those wires that run into the fender pluged straight into right?

Re: 92 rs LS1/t56 swap

Take the hush panel off the bottom of the dash and the kickpanel on the right

You should see the large bundle of wires where they come through the fender. There is a C shaped clip holding them in. Next, trace the large bundle up under the dash. It should immediately hit the ECM. Two screws and the ECM/tray will slide down. TBI has 2 connectors. Next route the final small bundle thats still connected. It goes to a clear connector, this is the C207. The dash side is actually two black connectors

Once the ECM and C207 are off the harness will pull free from the fender. Then its just the C100 remaining
