1989 tpi to LS1 wiring, need 89 pinouts
hello there
well, its just about that time..... now for the WIRING!!
i havent been able to locate the pinots for the c100 and c207 for a 89 350 tpi harness... can anyone point me in the right direction?... are they the same as the 90 to 90 pinouts [ obviously they arent exactly the same being maf vs. sd but i mean the other sensors, and what not.]
thanks very much
Lee

I used this site for mine:

I also used the autozone website, they have good diagrams too.

hmm, very useful stuff... can someone tell me what wires on the Ls1 harness are going to the C207??
i see fuel injectors come up twice.. i assume its left bank right bank? which is which becuase it doesnt specify.. what else is used on that connector?

PCM IGN fuse, speedo, MIL, P/Neutral switch and sometimes fan fuse with fuel pump feed
Bank 1 and bank 2 fuses are identical

Re: 1989 tpi to LS1 wiring, need 89 pinouts
because i am using an 89 harness i am using all of the old fuel relays and what not... there are two orange leads that go from the relays to the ecm... what do i do with these??
Re: 1989 tpi to LS1 wiring, need 89 pinouts
The fuel/ECM fuse is located remote near the battery in its own little sheath. This feeds the 12v batt common which goes to the fuel relay, new PCM, and two other wires that are not used any longer. They can be trimmed out

Pocket... just started wiring the car... wondering if the thirdgen igntion power [large pink] will feed enough to support the ls1 harness pinks or will i need to add larger wire?
Re: 1989 tpi to LS1 wiring, need 89 pinouts
It will, but is unfused. A better way is to hook the large pnk up to a relay and draw fresh from the battery which can be fused at a block of your choosing
You could alternately wire it like Ive written in the threads and reuse the 89 fuseblock/relays to not use that pnk wire at all

Re: 1989 tpi to LS1 wiring, need 89 pinouts
trying to get the car started but it will not turn over.. there is power from the battery to the starter, but not power from the purple wire when the key is on the start position.....
im suspecting a vats issue.. the car had vats, and i changed the column to a non vats column....
nothing happens when i turn the key, the windows dont even work when i turn the key.
i have located the starter enable relay behind the kick panel and am trying to figure out how to bypass the vats with it, it has four wires,, a large green with white stripe, two large yellow [no stripes on either] and one small green with white stripe... which one should i ground... or which two do i connect?
thanks

Connect the two big wires. One of the yellows should be smaller, ignore it
A quick test is to make a U from spare wire and stick in the relay socket
No window power means the interior isnt getting battery 12v. Check the fusible links if you've still got them, otherwise make sure the main power wires in the C100 are connected. If your C100 is gone, run fresh wires to your IGN switch and fuseblock

Re: 1989 tpi to LS1 wiring, need 89 pinouts
alright, the ignition switch on top of the column was broken, i replaced it and now i have power to my windows.. still no start.. so i am point fingers at the vats for that
this is what i have done...
cut the starter enable relay right off and connected the yellow wires[both of them becuase they come from the same source] to the green wire with white stripe that goes to the gear selector. then i took that large green wire and hardwired it directly to the purple bypassing the neutral safety switch... still no start,
tomorow i am going to confirm that the starter actually works by running a wire direct from the battery to the small post [where the purple wire goes] to check
if it does not work then i suppose i need to look before the starter enable relay which i beleive is only the ignition switch, this is truly odd.
correct me if i am wrong but the purple wire to the starter is a positive is it not? i checked the yellow wires with a test light and in the run or start key position they are grounds.... that means that if i attach the yellow to green and then green to purple i am grounding the small post on the starter solenoid...like i said... very odd

alright here is the update.. the first problem was the ignition switch on the column.... i swapped that and got windows running, then after an adjustment of the switch by sliding it closer to the steering wheel allowed it to function properly... 12v was then supplied to the yellow wire and once i connected the yellow to the large green wire i got the starter to crank... i now have the car running... thanks for the help so far.. im sure there are a few questions to come regarding fans.

Re: 1989 tpi to LS1 wiring, need 89 pinouts
okay, i have factory dual fans, there is only one green/white striped wire that goes from the ecm to the fan relays, what do i need to hook it up to on the ls1 pcm? there are two fan speeds or something like that and im unsure...
also on my stock fan relays they both are connected to a tan/white stripe wire that went to the plug on my old alternator, what do i do with this? run it to the ls1 alternator?, im not even sure what it is for, i think power is the orange wire for these,
any info on hooking up the fans would be greatly apreciated. thanks!

okay.. ive got a fan control that is green and one that is blue coming from the ls1 pcm, on the car i have a green wire to the ecm, and a grey one that went through an ac switch [i think] do i attach the pcm wires to these wires? i am still unsure of that to attach the tan wire to, do i splice it into the one wire plug on the alternator?

You have some options here, you can run two relays (one for each fan) or you can run three relays(one relay per fan and the third for high speed). I along with some others are only running two relays and are getting by just fine. One thing that you have to remember is that the output from the PCM for the fans are a ground, they just ground the relays, they don't control how fast the fans turn or anything like that.
