ls1 wont start, suspected vats, how to delete vats?
hello there
car is factory 89 tpi with vats, i changed the column to a non vats column with a different key, i am not getting power to the starter from the purple wire, how do i permanently bypass the vats, i dont want to put in a resistor, i want to hardwire around all of the vats... how do i do this.

there should be a relay behind the driver side kick panel, either ground the relay or connect the two big wires together

yes. the starter enable relay, there are 4 wire on it, a small green with white stripe, a large green with white stripe, and two large yellow wires.
i know the large green with stripe goes to the shifter.. i cannot differenciate between the yellow wire becuase they are the same, neither have a black stripe.
which two big wires do i connect? what do you mean by ground the relay.. it is made of plastic so im asssuming you mean ground on the the four wires.... which one?
thanks

Here is the diagram:

Look at the starter enable relay, either ground the solid dark green wire or take one of the yellows and connect it to the dark green/white striped wire.

Looking at the diagram, it looks like you want to splice either of the large yellow wires to the large dark green/white wire.

Yep, I recommend doing that if you want to eliminate that relay. That's what I did

i took the relay off, connected one of the yellow wires to the green wire to the shifter and it started!!! thanks very much for your help.. my initial trouble was a bad igniton switch but after i changed that, the yellow to green wire fix totally got rid of my vats problems.
And its sounds soooooooo good.. vroom vroom
