Oil Pressure Sender (LS1)

I picked up this handy piece from a store on eBay, it's an original style oil pressure sender with the correct threads to screw into the LS1. Anywho, I am having trouble getting it actually in there. I can screw it in, but I can get a wrench in there (motor is in the car) and I don't have a deep socket deep enough. I've looked all over for those specialty oil sender socket, but none of them are the right size. I believe the common size for these is 1 3/16" but this piece I bought is actually 1 1/16". I've seen 1 1/16" sockets for oil pressure senders but they are all too shallow because they appear to be for the new style piece (original LS1 piece). ANYWAYS, basically all I want is a solution. Ami I going to have to remove the intake?

The only sockets I can find are too big. Not too small.

Yeah but I need to remove the valley cover too, even then I am not sure a wrench could get on it because of the recess.

Because I can't get a wrench on it from the front, even with the intake removed (I just toom it off) The only way to get at it is from the back which is impossible because of the firewall.

Wierd, I got mine with a crescent with the valley cover installed, but its not a huge deal if you have to remove it. The gasket is reusable

Nook and Tranny on eBay carries some useful LSx swap parts.
Also, I got it in, but I had to buy 2 deep 1 1/16" sockets and cut and weld one onto the other. Luckily I work at a fabricating / machine shop so I could tig them together, blasted it and painted it black. Turned out great, and now I have a new tool for the future.

Custom tools are fun. If nothing else than explaing to your buddies; "Yeah, I had to build that when everything else out there didn't fit my needs."
