exhaust flange sources?

i got a quickie/cheapie 5.3 swap happening in my little bros car. we're planning on using a set of f-body exhaust manifolds we've acquired. unfortunately we can't seem to locate a set of flanges for building the y-pipe. anyone have a source for these new? the guys around me want to sell the whole cat, for way too much.

Re: exhaust flange sources?

Theres a few sponsors on 'tech selling them for $55/pr and up. I said F-that and broke out the torch using the gaskets as templates. Didnt cost me anything

Works great, no issues to report

hmmm...i didn't even really think about making my own. probably cause we don't have a torch...may be a good reason to go ahead and by one....

Stainless Works sells the flanges. I was going to pick them up but since my oil pan may not work like I want I may go long tubes

Find an F-car Y-pipe at the junkyard? Just cut off what you need.

Wow, the SSW passenger side flange is only $43

I found a link for some .pdf drawings of them so you can make your own.

I bought flanges with O2 sensors from a guy right on here. I am sure they can be bought off Ls1tech also.

he's not making them, i'm making them. just want to clear that up, lol. let me make these first and figure out what it's going to take and i'll consider making more. with my engineering classes finally starting, i don't exactly have a huge amount of time on my hands though...i'm sure pocket can attest to that as well, lol!

Re: exhaust flange sources?

if i knew for sure i could sell them i'd have a batch made. i'll talk to a guy i know that works at a machine shop with a water jet. see i'll show him those pdf's and see how many would have to be made to make it affordable and worth our while.

Re: exhaust flange sources?

it'd have to be less than $50 for the pair of flanges to be worth not making them myself...and it's tough to make them and sell them for less than that. the resources behind making them with a water jet and using decent flange material is just too costly...

Re: exhaust flange sources?

True, but most who bother with manifolds use mild steel exhaust and dont need the markup of SS

My 12"x48"x.25" mild steel plate set me back $25

Sorry to bring back an old thread. But i will be selling Pairs of them, 3/8 steel for $35 plus shipping. The more i sell the cheaper i can get them.

Re: exhaust flange sources?

You should post up on LS1tech too. Conversion guys frequently need these

They might tag you for non-sponsor soliciting though

Re: exhaust flange sources?

I am a mod on Tech and if you just make a FS post and say you have X amount of "spare" flanges available, you will be fine in the FS section and just mention it in any post you see where people are reusing the manifolds. I wouldnt say anything, but some are ***** over there.

They are stock size. Which is, The bigger triangle flange is 2.5" and the smaller akward triangle is 2.3"

Re: exhaust flange sources?

Best flange Ive ever had on a car came factory on my 80 Buick, looks like a GM donut flange but its not. It doesn't use any gasket, just a steel to steel donut connection that never leaks, wears out, blows out.........
