l92 swap cali

Anyone know if i can swap a l92 aluminum motor into my camaro and it will be california legal? I would swap the truck pan and the truck intake out to a ls3 intake. Will this fail this visual or not?

California will not pass a car that has a truck motor swapped in; its gotta stay car body, car engine. if you're looking to go with a gen III/IV setup, you'd have to pull something from an Fbody, a GTO, CTS-V, vette, or G8

Re: l92 swap cali

If you were too swap out the intake manifold and make it appear to be an engine that come out of a F-body, GTO etc. Then used all the emission controls from an F-body It would pass the Visual. I have a smog license in cali, and can say that most smog techs are not familiar with swaps and specifics of each engine and wouldnt be able too tell the difference.

But im not sure how far they go when you go to take the car to a referee, I think it wouold appear to be a F-body engine too them as well.

I'd move before I'd go through any type of vehicle inspection... Long live FREEDOM!

Thats what I was thinking because I see that happen with some of the 4th gens doing lq4 swaps. Looks like in l92 swap sounds good, I guess I will do an intake swap and a cam swap and will be ahead.

Re: l92 swap cali

The irony is the L92 is more emission friendly than an LS3 is.
